Chapter 4 - Insane durability (4)

"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to do that."

The sound of a dinosaur roar could be heard as the boy ran as fast as his little legs could carry him, swerving and turning at any curve he could find.

And the reason he knew the T-Rex was still behind him—

He could... well... "see" him. More like he could feel the beast's presence without needing to turn around to check.

Contrary to what he expected, the T-Rex's steps were light, so he didn't hear much of any sound. He was just running for his life, even forgetting that he had wings.

His flames roared to life, but he didn't notice. His main focus right now was outrunning the beast.

Pouring all of his energy into running, he dashed like his life depended on it.

His feet hit the ground multiple times a second.

The T-Rex opened its maw, attempting to eat the boy whole in one simple bite, yet as it bit down where the boy was one second ago—

Its mouth caught nothing but thin air. Hm.

The boy had suddenly appeared several feet in front of it.

The beast chased after him, but it noticed something—the distance between them was getting larger and larger, as if the boy's speed was increasing tremendously. The flames around his body had vanished for a moment, as if he was focusing purely on speed.

Kairo didn't even dare look back, his body zooming at speeds he didn't even think were possible for a human to achieve.

He jumped out of the forest, the T-Rex still behind him.

"I said I am sorry, please let me be!" he begged, but all he got from the T-Rex was a roar. Come on, he just wanted to chill—why the fuck did he meet a T-Rex on his first day?

What kind of bullshit was his luck?

As the beast lunged at him, he jumped backward, his flames turning on.

'Heh... why don't I feel the ground anymore?' he thought, confused. He had jumped backward, yes, but he was sure there was ground beneath him—so why the fuck did he not feel anything?

He looked at the beast. The beast looked at him. They both looked down. Oh yeah... they were floating roughly 300 feet off the ground.

...

"Oh shit."

Those were the last words he managed to let out before his body and the T-Rex were plunged toward the ground, gravity not granting them even an ounce of mercy.

He quickly went through the hand seals—if he was going to die, he would take this beast with him.

"Water Style: Water Bullet Jutsu!"

Something felt odd as he did that—his flames seemed to grow a bit dull. He felt a chunk of his energy being drained. Black lightning could be seen before it harmonized itself, turning the moisture in the air into a water bullet, which launched toward the T-Rex at insane speed.

Under normal circumstances, this water bullet wouldn't have done shit—but this one had gravity working alongside it.

It hit the beast with full force. Kairo, meanwhile, was trying not to die.

"I have wings, flap dammit!" he shouted, trying to spread his wings. It was a new feeling—he had never had wings before. They felt like new limbs, new muscles. Trying to move them was like a baby trying to move its hands—it felt very hard, and this was only the second time he was doing it.

His wings partly opened.

"Yes—"

BAM

Unfortunately, that was a bit too late, as his body slammed hard on the T-Rex, who may or may not have cushioned his fall.

That hurt... a bit.

As he groaned and got up—

"I don't feel... that bad," he said, looking at his body. He didn't feel anything, as if he had taken no damage from the fall at all, which was odd. Sure, the T-Rex did cushion his fall, but he still fell 300 feet out of the air. The fact that he was intact said a lot about his insane durability.

"Was this the insane durability the system spoke about?" he muttered to himself. His body felt sturdier than ever.

His belly grumbled.

"Well... I need to eat."

He pondered on what to eat since he was starving—then his gaze landed on it. The T-Rex.

The beast was dead.

And that was a lot of meat.

Looking up at the sky, the sun was still up—it was like high noon—so he guessed this was relatively early.

He could hear the sounds of the forest, some animals even seemed to be waking up, and if he remembered correctly, T-Rexes hunted at night...

Or during the day. Last he checked, scientists weren't too firm on this.

Now that he wasn't running for his life, he could begin this.

First, he'd need to make sure the meat lasted long—so contain it, dry it, and maybe salt it.

He wanted it to last for a while.

As for starting a fire... opening the palm of his hand, fire could be seen.

Heheheheh.
