Chapter 25: The Path to Enhancing Physical Aptitude (Part 1)
Night had fallen over Ring Tree Island. The air was peaceful and calm, and laughter occasionally echoed throughout the island.
…
The light aroma of fish cake teased Luo Han's senses.
After returning home from the hunting team, Granny Mo had already prepared dinner.
In recent years, because of his constant training, Granny Mo had taken over all the cooking. Luo Han only helped occasionally if he got home early enough—and he hadn't been spending much time with her.
Watching Granny Mo moving busily around the kitchen, a pang of guilt hit Luo Han's heart.
Have I been too obsessed with gaining strength?
Ever since he transmigrated to the world of One Piece, Luo Han had once longed to be a pirate like Luffy: deep friendships, grand adventures, and that damned freedom.
But that was just a dream.
After all, Luffy hadn't even been born yet in this timeline—maybe even Garp's son wasn't born either!
And Luo Han... was just a normal person. When he first arrived, he had been terrified—because of insecurity, because of how unfamiliar this world was.
Only once he understood that Ring Tree Island was safe—and thanks to Granny Mo's care—did he finally settle in.
As the saying goes, "Once your belly is full, you start thinking about other things."
Living in peace, Luo Han started yearning for the wonders of this pirate world.
But he also feared being too weak—what if he died before he ever left the island?
At heart, Luo Han had a typical mindset of an ordinary person.
And what did ordinary people want most? Stability. That's right—just a stable, safe life.
When he first dreamed of exploring the world, all he could think about was growing stronger, until he could roam freely. Ideally, he'd reach admiral-level strength before ever setting foot off the island.
And so, he buried himself in gaining power—gradually neglecting Granny Mo in the process.
But in truth, there was no need to become a pirate to see the world.
If he didn't cause trouble, the Navy wouldn't chase him. As long as he could run fast enough, he'd be fine!
Thinking all this through lifted a huge weight off Luo Han's shoulders.
Those untouchable, plot-armored protagonists in novels weren't him.
Realizing this, he finally felt a sense of relief.
…
At dinner, Luo Han and Granny Mo ate quietly.
"Xiao Han, I heard you joined the hunting team today?" Granny Mo asked, a little worried. She'd found out from Cole's mom, Aunt Lilian.
Luo Han gave an apologetic smile. "I only found out when I got to the training grounds this morning. Sorry, Grandma—I should've told you."
"Sigh… I figured this would happen eventually," Granny Mo said softly. "Ring Tree Island needs you young ones to grow stronger and protect it. Just be careful, okay? Don't be reckless."
Her voice held a mix of helplessness and peace, but her biggest concern was Luo Han's safety.
He gave a confident grin. "Don't worry, Grandma. I'll be careful. I can fly now—nothing bad will happen, haha!"
Granny Mo smiled back. "Well, if my Xiao Han can fly, then I'll feel at ease making dinner while I wait for my good grandson."
Luo Han nodded firmly.
Dinner ended on a warm note.
—
The next morning, Luo Han flew down to the first level to speak with Uncle Witt.
"You're… sure?" Uncle Witt stared at him in disbelief.
What Luo Han said was just too shocking—there was still a year left before he could eat another Fish Scale Fruit, and yet he claimed he could enhance his physical aptitude using his Mind Fruit and the energy from Rainbowfish.
Essentially replicating the function of the Fish Scale Fruit!
And most importantly, Luo Han said his Devil Fruit could enhance a person's natural physical talent.
Everyone knew physical talent had limits—not everyone could grow stronger through training. Even if they could, most hit a ceiling eventually.
But those with great talent—like Cole—could easily reach the limit of many current hunting team members.
And that was just Cole's base strength. He hadn't even reached his explosive phase yet.
"Luo Han, are you saying it boosts your natural talent—not just your physical strength?" Uncle Witt asked urgently.
"I'm sure. It's about raising the limit of my physical potential," Luo Han confirmed.
Honestly, he'd expected some surprise—but not this much.
After thinking it through, he concluded it had to be a talent boost. At his age, his current power had already hit a bottleneck. The only explanation for further growth was an improvement in raw potential.
Like taking a small water tank and replacing it with a giant one—it naturally holds more water.
Uncle Witt was still stunned.
Luo Han wasn't saying he was just getting physically stronger—he was raising the limit of how strong he could become.
Strength could grow temporarily, but talent upgrades were lifelong. That's what shocked Uncle Witt.
If this was true… Luo Han might one day surpass Cole.
Uncle Witt looked at him seriously, both curious and amazed.
Could it really be that the Mind Fruit could do what only the divine tree's Fish Scale Fruit had ever done?
Wanting to confirm again, he asked cautiously,
"Luo Han, you're absolutely sure your talent is increasing?"
"Yes," Luo Han answered confidently. "I confirmed it during my battle with Cole two days ago.
It was visible—I felt the change clearly. That's how I know. It's a power of the Mind Fruit: when guided by strong intention, it can enhance physical talent.
Before, I couldn't develop the fruit well. But once I awakened psychokinesis, my Observation Haki evolved and began sensing and recording auras.
That's what made this possible.
By recording the aura of Cole's physical potential, I now have a target to guide my own evolution.
During that intense battle, I could feel it clearly—and that's when I knew my fruit could push my physical aptitude beyond its limits."
Luo Han didn't hide anything. Uncle Witt was trustworthy—Cole's father, and a sworn brother to Luo Han's own late father.
Even after hearing it all, Uncle Witt still found it hard to believe.
"So… does this ability have a limit? Or will it stop once you reach Cole's level?" he asked.
Luo Han shook his head. "No limit, Uncle Witt. As long as I want to grow stronger, the Mind Fruit can keep guiding that growth.
It only slowed before because I lacked a reference aura—like Cole's.
Without one, the process is much slower."
