Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Uncle Witt’s Special Training

Chapter 12: Uncle Witt's Special Training

The fish meat was placed into several baskets, then lowered into the lake. Even underwater, no trace of blood could be seen.

No wonder Uncle Witt insisted we eat it raw.

Luo Han and Cole immediately began devouring the rainbowfish—well, Luo Han thought they were going all in.

After just half a fish, Luo Han felt like his body was at its limit. Any more, and the energy might burst out of him.

Meanwhile, Cole had eaten two whole rainbowfish and still wasn't full. What kind of monster was this guy?

Luo Han couldn't help but feel that Cole might actually be the strongest land-sea-air creature in the One Piece world… but he had never appeared in the anime of his past life.

Maybe because I wasn't there, and Cole never left the island, so he remained unknown?

No way! A meat shield like that had to come with him. Only with Cole around would Luo Han feel safe out at sea.

And he could fly, too. No need to worry about storms flipping the ship and people falling into the sea.

Luo Han started slipping into his own fantasies.

"Alright, once you're done eating, come to the other side of the plaza!" Uncle Witt called, then walked over.

Luo Han and Cole quickly followed.

On the other side of the plaza, there were numerous pale marks on the divine tree's surface, though none broke the bark.

Another miraculous trait of the divine tree—the underwater roots were fragile, but the parts above the surface were incredibly tough. Not even standard Armament Haki attacks could pierce the bark.

Luo Han and Cole took their positions on opposite sides of the plaza, facing Uncle Witt in the middle.

"Special training means attacking me!" Uncle Witt said, waving his hand. "Use your full strength! Come at me!"

They exchanged a glance, crouched low, and shot forward. Their speed wasn't bad—especially Cole. It was hard to imagine how such a huge and round body could move so explosively.

But to Uncle Witt, their speed was nothing impressive.

As soon as Luo Han and Cole got close enough to strike, Uncle Witt casually tilted his body, caught both their punches, and with a light flick—

Thud! Thud!

Two bodies hit the ground.

Luo Han didn't get up right away. The tree roots were hard. He rubbed his sore shoulder.

Cole, naturally, was fine. With all that padding, he didn't feel a thing and rolled right back up.

This time, he was different. His muscles rippled with power.

At 1.8 meters tall, he radiated white steam from his body.

Whoosh!

Cole charged toward Uncle Witt with a sound like an explosion.

His punch landed on Uncle Witt's stomach, creating a ripple of white shockwaves between them.

"Luo Han! How long are you going to lie there?!" Uncle Witt shouted, tanking Cole's blow with a grimace.

"Don't waste the Devil Fruit your parents gave their lives to get!"

Luo Han froze.

He stood up, expression serious. He might not care for others' expectations, but if he wanted to go out to sea—he had to get stronger.

"I'm coming, Uncle Witt," Luo Han said, eyes sharp as he clenched his fists and dashed forward.

"That's the spirit!" Uncle Witt laughed.

Smack! Bang! Slam!

Time passed as they trained under Uncle Witt's fierce supervision.

Or more accurately, under his iron fists.

By the time they finished—well into the evening—Luo Han was covered in bruises and aching all over.

Rainbowfish only provided energy for extended training; they didn't heal injuries.

Meanwhile, Cole looked totally fine. The bruises from earlier had already vanished.

Uncle Witt seemed genuinely surprised by this.

Even he might not have expected the Zoan-type Kun-Kun Fruit to be so powerful—or perhaps Cole's physical talent really was just that exceptional.

After saying their goodbyes, Luo Han and Cole returned home.

Back home, Luo Han carefully stored the half rainbowfish Uncle Witt had given him earlier.

"You're back, Xiao Han! Come eat some fish cakes!" Granny Mo greeted him warmly.

"Coming, Grandma."

"You've worked hard, I see. Look at those injuries!" she said, taking his hand with concern.

"I'm fine! I ate the Fish Scale Fruit. I'll be good as new by morning," Luo Han replied gently.

After dinner, he went to his usual spot—Green Cliff. Lying on the grass, Luo Han mulled over the harsh training.

He had believed that morning that his body was absorbing the Fish Scale Fruit's transformation well. But looking back, it might've been due to his Mind Fruit's powers.

What exactly caused it, he didn't know yet.

All he knew was… his physical aptitude was poor.

Uncle Witt had said so himself—Luo Han would be better off focusing on developing his Devil Fruit powers.

And he was right. Luo Han wasn't the type who liked trading punches.

He was just a regular guy who dreamed of winning a fight from ten kilometers away. No contact necessary.

He chuckled at himself.

"Whoa! Han-ge, you're already here?" Cole approached with his usual heavy steps.

"Yeah. Come here, Cole. No training tonight," Luo Han replied, lying flat.

"Oh, okay."

Cole lay beside him, gazing at the starry sky. He could tell something was different about Han-ge tonight.

"Cole, I'm going to focus on developing my Devil Fruit from now on," Luo Han said with a sigh. "After today, I can't keep up with your pace anymore."

Cole looked at him with confusion. What did that have to do with training?

Maybe in Cole's mind, Luo Han was still the same training partner from before. But now it was completely one-sided—Cole was overwhelming him.

Luo Han kept thinking, ignoring Cole.

But Cole didn't mind. He just lay quietly, enjoying the stars. As long as he could be with Han-ge, that was enough. Training or not didn't matter.

Luo Han counted stars, remembering Uncle Witt's final words during their session.

His physical talent wasn't just bad—it was worse than average. He only managed to keep up with pre-transformation Cole because Cole had no control back then.

Now, while most kids could consume a whole rainbowfish after taking the Fish Scale Fruit, Luo Han couldn't even handle half.

Today's training was essentially just Cole sparring with Uncle Witt. Luo Han was being tossed aside every time he charged in.

So it's settled: develop psychokinesis.

Otherwise, there'd be no way to keep up with Cole. What if he became famous across the seas, leaving behind a grand legacy in the One Piece world?

And me, a transmigrator who thought he'd be the main character, ends up forgotten—never even leaving the island?

Just the thought was terrifying.

Back to the development of psychokinesis.

To do it through the Mind Fruit, he needed to first understand what its powers truly were.

Luo Han already had a guess.

At its core, the "mind" was idealistic. It couldn't directly change reality. Just because you wished for someone to die didn't mean they would—thought alone couldn't kill.

But the Mind Fruit turned such fantasies—like "thoughts that kill"—into reality.

Luo Han called this ability "Mind Manifestation." That was what made the fruit so terrifying.

Of course, manifesting conceptual powers would require many conditions.

The hardest one, Luo Han figured, was this:

In order to manifest a conceptual power, the user must genuinely believe, deep within their soul, that the concept is real.

That's probably why it would be so hard for people in the One Piece world to achieve.

Unlike a transmigrator like him—someone who had crossed from the real world to an anime—Luo Han had already experienced the shift from three-dimensional reality to a two-dimensional fantasy.

So deep inside, he did believe mental powers could be real.

Now, the next step was finding a way to manifest psychokinesis through the Mind Fruit.

It would be even better if he could come up with a concrete training method.

That way, manifesting it would be much easier.
