Chapter 18: Manifesting Psychokinesis
The next day, as the sun rose, another ordinary morning began on Ring Tree Island.
After breakfast, Luo Han and Cole headed to Green Cliff. On the far side of the island's summit, Uncle Kate and the hunting team were already training.
Since Uncle Witt's special training had ended, Luo Han had invited Cole to train together in the mornings at Green Cliff.
"Let's begin, Cole!"
"Keep attacking toward the distance."
Luo Han activated his Observation Haki while Cole prepared to strike.
This time, the sensation felt different.
A primal, beast-like aura appeared in Luo Han's perception, and a mysterious energy began to build up within Cole.
As he swung his fist, that energy gathered at his knuckles—and in the moment of impact, it burst forth.
The air around his fist seemed to come alive, like a solid substance. His punch was briefly resisted, and then all of Cole's power surged outward in a single burst.
The resulting strike, much like a sword slash, exploded forward in a shockwave—not requiring the breathing mastery of swordmasters, but seemingly channeling that mysterious inner energy.
If Luo Han could comprehend and control this mysterious energy, he too could unleash such blows.
This time, he sensed it clearly—that strange force that caused the air to "harden."
In fact, he had felt it before but never paid it much attention.
Three years ago, after first eating his Devil Fruit, he had seen Uncle Kate use the giant kingdom's secret move "Hakoku " while harvesting sea salt at the ocean floor. Luo Han had seen sparks crackling around him—those sparks were the product of immense will clashing with air.
That aura was the embodiment of one's will. When Kate or Cole added will to their strikes, their power could project outward and impact reality.
Isn't that just like psychokinesis?
With this realization, Luo Han understood what he had to do—it was time to manifest his mind's power.
Entering a deep meditative state, Luo Han gave off an ethereal presence, almost as if he no longer belonged to the physical world.
Cole, seeing Luo Han like this, sensed that something important was happening and quietly sat nearby to guard him from interruption.
Luo Han's consciousness followed a spiritual path, extending infinitely forward. It felt like years had passed, but eventually, he arrived in another realm.
This was a world of no color, no scent. Space had no distance, only endless motion. But as Luo Han entered, the space around him became still, as if it now had an owner.
He moved his awareness—and space moved with him.
A sudden clarity rang through his mind.
So this… is the realm of psychokinetic potential. From now on, when his will stirred in this place, psychokinetic power would act upon the real world.
He never imagined psychokinesis would emerge like this!
"Luo Han! Luo Han!" Cole's voice echoed in the distance, urgent.
"Luo Han! You finally woke up!"
"I was about to snap you out of it! Waaaah…"
Opening his eyes, Luo Han found Cole crying.
Wait… why is my body so thin? Did a lot of time pass?
"Cole, how long was I out?" Luo Han asked, confused—he didn't feel like it had been long, but his frail body said otherwise.
Still teary-eyed, Cole began explaining:
"Han-ge, I saw you enter that meditative state and thought you were finally going to manifest your power, so I stayed nearby to protect you."
"But then you started getting thinner and thinner… I didn't know what to do, I was scared! I kept calling your name, and just when I was about to snap you out of it, you woke up. Waaaah!"
Cole hadn't calmed down yet. Luo Han, touched by his concern, smiled.
"I'm okay now. Let me show you what my psychokinesis can do."
Luo Han stood up and focused.
With a thought, Cole was gently lifted into the air by an invisible force—floating.
"Whoa! This is amazing, Han-ge!" Cole twisted and flailed midair without falling. He was fully supported by an unseen force that didn't restrict his movement.
Luo Han smiled and closed his eyes.
Suddenly, the entire world came into focus in his mind. Observation Haki now allowed him to sense every shape, color, temperature, and aura in his surroundings—a blend of his five senses and spiritual perception.
At the moment he manifested his will, Luo Han's years of training—blending his Haki with the Mind Fruit to sense wooden sticks—finally bore fruit. His perception and mind power merged.
He called it: Divine Sense.
Combined with psychokinesis, Luo Han could now use his will to control space within his Divine Sense—achieving total unity of thought, will, and force.
"Cole, want to try flying fast?" Luo Han asked with a confident smile.
"Yes!" Cole nodded eagerly.
Encasing them both in psychokinetic energy to shield them from wind pressure—
Whoosh!
They shot into the sky from Green Cliff.
In a single breath, they had risen a thousand meters—and Luo Han knew he could go even faster.
Floating at that height, Luo Han looked down at Ring Tree Island from a new perspective. It felt completely different from above.
"Whoa! So fast, Han-ge!" Cole marveled, gazing down at the island.
"Han-ge, I want to transform and fly on my own!" Although the flight was smooth, Cole preferred to move under his own power.
"Sure, go ahead. I'll release the psychokinesis after you change."
Cole began transforming—and soon, a massive 300-meter-long kun hovered beside Luo Han in the sky.
"Go! Soar the skies, Cole!"
Luo Han released his hold.
At that altitude, the wind howled violently. From below, the hunting team looked up.
They saw a giant fish—Cole's transformed form—soaring through the cloud sea, with a tiny figure flying beside him.
It was Luo Han.
"Wow! That's Cole's Zoan-type Devil Fruit? Incredible!"
"Little Luo Han's found his path to power at last!"
"Haha!"
The hunters marveled as they watched the two in the sky.
Brother Ryan stared longingly upward.
If only I had a Devil Fruit too…
"There's no need to envy them," said Uncle Kate. "Everyone has their own path. Devil Fruits only shine in the right hands."
"Think about Luo Han. All those weird training methods—people used to doubt if he was even suited for that Paramecia-type fruit."
"His physical talent wasn't great, unlike Cole. But now he's flying at high speed through the air."
Looking at Luo Han, Uncle Kate continued:
"It proves his development path was right. If any of you had that fruit, you probably wouldn't even know what power it held."
"Ryan, your path is your own. Don't lose heart."
He patted Ryan's shoulder and looked up into the sky, full of emotion.
Carter… your son… has finally set sail.
