Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Transformation of the Fish Scale Fruit

Chapter 10: The Transformation of the Fish Scale Fruit

Cole's body slowly transformed into a massive fish—with a giant mouth, the size and shape of a whale, and two huge fins…

A fish…?

Looking at the colossal creature, easily over a hundred meters long, Luo Han couldn't help but feel it resembled the mythical kun (In Chinese mythology, "Kun" (鲲) is the name of a giant fish or whale that can transform into the giant bird Peng (鵬). This creature, described in the ancient Chinese text...)

from those old mobile game ads in his previous life.

Especially since it was floating—apparently able to fly!

According to legend, the kun (Kun is described as a fish or whale of immense size that inhabits the Northern Sea.) grew stronger by eating endlessly.

Honestly, if that were true, it was a perfect match for Cole!

Why did he feel a twinge of jealousy?

So sour…

Luo Han sank into deep thought.

"Change back now, Cole!" Uncle Witt quickly called out.

If such a massive fish suddenly appeared on the island, it might cause panic among the villagers.

"I don't know how to change back, Dad!" Cole's voice rumbled deeply—it even sounded different now.

Cole started to panic.

Uncle Witt looked a little uneasy too. What kind of Devil Fruit ability was this? It seemed powerful, but still…

"Just think about your original form," Uncle Witt said quickly. "Try to control it slowly and transform back."

Cole focused on his big, round body—yes, big and round! Slowly, the massive fish began to shrink and morph back into Cole.

"That's enough for tonight," Uncle Witt said. "Starting tomorrow, you two will train with me every afternoon for three hours."

And with that, he turned and left.

Luo Han and Cole exchanged glances.

They didn't resume their usual training that night.

Instead, they lay on Green Cliff, staring up at the stars.

"Han-ge… I think I'm hungry," Cole muttered.

Luo Han: "…"

He had expected something about power or growth—not hunger!

Forget it. Tonight had been overwhelming. Time to head home and sort things out.

"Let's go back, Cole."

The two returned home in silence, arriving without incident.

A bit of evening bustle…

Later, lying in bed, Luo Han reflected on everything that had happened that day.

First was Uncle Kate's explosive power, then learning the truth about his parents from Uncle Witt.

Luo Han realized now: the world of One Piece wasn't the beautiful adventure shown in anime. No—it was beautiful only for the strong. This was a world ruled by strength.

The weak could only survive in submission.

Sigh… Now that he had eaten the fish scale fruit, should he focus on developing his Devil Fruit powers or on refining his body?

Maybe both at the same time…

Yeah, let's see what Uncle Witt's special training is like tomorrow afternoon first.

Sleep time.

No dreams that night—he slept incredibly well, one of the small perks of his Mind Fruit power.

Better sleep quality.

The next morning, after Granny Mo's hearty breakfast, Luo Han followed routine and headed to the ninth-level plaza for their military boxing practice.

At Uncle Witt's house, only Cole and Aunt Lilian were there.

"You're here, Xiao Luo Han," Aunt Lilian greeted with her usual gentle tone. "Cole, it's time for morning training."

Cole was still gnawing on a massive chunk of fish. With that appetite, no wonder his body was thriving, Luo Han thought.

"Mmrph! Han… ge, let's go," Cole mumbled through a mouthful.

When he stood up—wow, he was tall!

After eating the Devil Fruit the night before, he had visibly grown overnight.

The most impressive part? Aunt Lilian showed zero surprise, staying completely calm. Anyone who could settle someone like Uncle Witt so quickly was clearly remarkable in her own right.

As they walked to the ninth plaza…

Luo Han couldn't help but glance at Cole—ten years old and already 1.8 meters tall. Then he looked at his own 1.2-meter frame.

Was this normal?

He felt a bit bitter.

Snapping out of it, Luo Han and Cole arrived at the plaza.

All the island's children of eligible age had already gathered.

Brother Ryan was as dependable as ever, organizing the formation and leading the morning drills.

With the sunrise, a new day of training began.

The sound of youthful but resolute shouting filled the air.

This time, Luo Han could clearly feel the change in Cole.

As he practiced the forms, a warm flow of energy slowly spread through his entire body.

It was… wonderful—like every cell in his body was being nourished.

He didn't feel tired at all. In fact, he only felt stronger and more energetic.

Immersed in training, Luo Han forgot everything else.

Thanks to his Mind Fruit, he could sense his body more precisely than others.

He could feel how his muscles and cells were rapidly becoming denser, more vibrant.

And the sense of growing stronger in real time—it was addicting.

He found himself lost in it.

"Alright, that's it for this morning. If you push too hard, your body won't keep up," Brother Ryan's voice pulled Luo Han out of his trance.

He stopped his movement—three hours had passed just like that. He hadn't even noticed.

He wanted to keep going—the sensation was too addictive!

Brother Ryan walked toward him, and the surrounding kids looked at Luo Han with surprise.

Only Cole seemed clueless why everyone was staring.

Luo Han was also confused.

"Luo Han," Brother Ryan said, "you must train in moderation.

Only three hours of practice each morning. No more than that.

Your body doesn't have the energy to support more. Look at yourself!"

My body? What's wrong with my body?

Luo Han quickly looked down at his hand—his jaw dropped.

Was this really his hand? His bones and veins were clearly visible!

He touched his face—same thing.

He had thinned out all over. But he had felt amazing!

Looking around… no one else looked like this.

Cole seemed perfectly normal yesterday!

"Brother Ryan, what's going on?" Luo Han asked urgently.

Cole also turned anxiously toward Ryan.

"Did you sneak in extra training last night?" Ryan asked. "After eating a fish scale fruit, you can't overtrain.

The transformation it causes consumes energy—and the body only has so much to use per day.

If you exceed that limit, the fruit starts drawing energy directly from your body.

That's what caused you to lose so much weight."

Brother Ryan explained loudly and clearly, also using it as a lesson for the others.

Hmm… But Luo Han hadn't done any extra training…

"Brother Ryan, when you practice, do you feel a stream of energy flowing gently through your body?" Luo Han asked curiously.

"No," Ryan said. "I just feel stronger or tougher after practice.

What you're describing might be a hallucination from the sudden change after eating the fruit."

No, Luo Han thought. It wasn't a hallucination.

He was sure that feeling had been real.
