Chapter 22 - Chapter 21: Giant Ape

"Eh! There are no benefits! How is that possible!" Merlin cried out, unwilling to accept it.

"For example?" Kayal tilted his head, holding their hands, and walked into the house.

"For example, suddenly understanding things you didn't before?" Merlin offered as an example.

"I've always understood," Kayal countered with a smile.

"For example, a very obvious improvement in magic, suddenly becoming very skilled, a very clear mind, or a sudden increase in calculation speed, something like that." Merlin asked, still unwilling, "Was there no obvious change at all?"

"Now that you mention it," Kayal looked at his hands, then suddenly spread them wide and waved them, and around him, like the Buddha's sarira, a circle formed from countless spherical light clusters rapidly expanded: "Recently, I've had a very strong feeling for magic; everything I try, I instantly grasp. Could this be the reward you mentioned?"

Kayal was very puzzled: "What does this have to do with titles?"

"Don't you know?" Merlin finally brightened, finally discovering something this little monster didn't know.

"Know what?" Kayal became interested; exploring the unknown is a fundamental quality a scientist should possess, and now Kayal's curiosity was piqued.

"Hehe," Merlin smiled without answering, her face practically screaming, "Come beg me! Come beg me! Beg me and I'll tell you."

Kayal immediately felt a surge of anger. Alright, if you won't say it, then I'll guess.

"Based on your hint just now," Kayal paced twice, "my recent changes are related to the title 'Little Sage'."

"In other words, all the changes are caused by the title 'Little Sage'."

"Adding in the previous speculation…"

Kayal's gaze became serious: "A King's conferment can bestow power?"

"Precisely!" Merlin nodded: "A King is respected by the people's word-of-mouth, and then gains the right to bestow power upon the people. This is the rule of this world. It seems you finally understand."

"What a detestable feeling," Kayal covered his forehead, showing an expression of disgust for the first time.

"I can roughly guess the principle, it's like the divine right of kings, but instead, it's the human right of kings. But I don't like this feeling of my own power being controlled by others." Kayal sat on the doorstep, shaking his head. He was completely unaware that it was King Uther's influence that made him stronger, and this made him very displeased. Twelve light clusters revolved around him like satellites.

"Alright, I now dislike the King," Kayal shook his head, pointed a finger, and the twelve light clusters flew out. "Alright, we should go," Kayal said, tapping the two children.

"Alright, alright, don't be angry. You know this isn't King Uther's fault," Merlin was afraid Kayal would get angry, as Kayal's intelligence, when angered, would likely cause King Uther a lot of trouble.

"╮(╯_╰)╭" Kayal shrugged and turned to walk towards the hanging basket.

"Hey, where are you going!" Merlin called out.

"To the battlefield," Kayal said, pulling down the rope, with the two little tag-alongs in tow.

After slowly descending, the two horses on the ground were leisurely eating green moss with their heads down. With just a whistle from Kayal, the little Unicorn came trotting back.

The Unicorn had no stirrups or reins; the intelligent little Unicorn knew what Kayal wanted with just a pat on its neck or a grasp of its mane.

Kayal mounted the little Unicorn, and with the two little tag-alongs, pointed in a direction: "Let's go, we're heading to the battlefield."

"How do you know it's this way?" Gawain, visiting Nottingham Forest for the first time, asked loudly, a little scared.

A ball of light flew from that direction; it was one of the twelve light balls Kayal had released earlier.

"A dual-purpose magic for searching and scouting," Kayal smiled slightly, no longer dwelling on the issue of King Uther and the human right of kings.

"Ha!" He patted the Unicorn's neck, and the Unicorn shot forward like a white arrow.

The two little followers struggled to keep up on their horses behind the little Unicorn. It was clear that on the ground formed by tree roots, the two large horses were very uncomfortable.

The Unicorn, however, was like a mountain goat, leaping and bounding over the uneven tree roots, appearing very joyful.

"Alright, I've found a magical beast," Kayal suddenly stopped and said to the two people who had caught up from behind.

"Don't scare me," Gawain shivered, "This isn't fun at all."

"No, I'm serious," Kayal's face lost its smile, replaced by seriousness. "A giant beast. Our combat strength can't defeat it. I don't know if we should go look."

"Let's go," a look of determination suddenly appeared on Atoris's face, and his entire gentle demeanor became resolute: "A Knight, when facing an enemy, never retreats!"

Gawain gave a wry smile, thinking, "Big brother, you're not even a Knight yet!"

"Alright, let's go see," Kayal urgently needed information on magical beasts. After being surprised by the martial arts of his two followers and King Uther's commendation, he desperately needed more information about this world.

Although he had already decided to recruit orphans and train them into his own Intelligence Division upon his return, it was still too early for Kayal. Let's go see, he thought; perhaps they couldn't defeat it, but they could definitely escape.

Kayal thought to himself.

So the three walked towards the area Kayal had scouted.

"So big," seeing the giant beast, even Atoris's voice was much softer with fear. What a huge giant beast!

Gawain was already trembling with fear. Although he would later become the great Knight of the Sun, at present he was still just an underage child. Seeing Gawain trembling, a magic circle silently appeared in Kayal's hand, and enveloped in a white light, Gawain's mood inexplicably calmed down.

"Quiet," Kayal whispered. Then he turned to gaze at the behemoth, observing it in detail.

This was an enlarged gorilla—no, King Kong would be a more appropriate term. In this ancient forest, teeming with thousand-year-old trees, even canopies several hundred meters high barely covered its head. Fortunately, it was an omnivore, which was probably why the entire forest could support such an enormous apex predator.

Kayal surmised.

How much food would a giant King Kong need to eat to fill its stomach?

Scientists could seriously tell you that if their digestive system allowed it, they would probably spend half their time eating, otherwise they would weaken and die from insufficient nutrition each day.

It was a good thing there was such a large forest.

Kayal felt fortunate in his heart, otherwise, this Giant Ape would have gone to prey outside the forest, and an omnivorous Giant Ape wouldn't be picky about human flesh at all!
