On the morning of day 198, Alfred and Egon met to prepare for the mission. The Eastern Section's vehicle elevator, which contained military vehicles, was the place.
Egon arrived first. Alfred came 10 minutes after. They examined all the vehicles and determined that five cargo trucks would be suitable for the mission. Then they arranged the vehicles. The unneeded ones were set aside while the cargo trucks faced the exit without any obstruction.
After that, they took a 30-minute break to make the list of items, tools, and equipment needed and identify the storage units where the supplies were kept, using a digital map from the rations department.
Twenty minutes later, Charlotte arrived pushing a cart with four large containers filled with medical supplies. She and Alina had prepped and packed them the previous day.
Alfred and Egon helped load the boxes onto one of the cargo trucks. Charlotte questioned why they were only taking five trucks. That's little, given the size of the shipment they planned to retrieve. Egon explained that there were already other trucks near the shipment, if needed.
After that, they divided their effort. Egon headed off to get flashlights, headlamps, rechargeable battery units, and navigational tablets.
The tablets contained maps of the entire building and the surrounding area. They were energy-efficient, able to run for fourteen days on one battery charge, with built-in solar cells. Additionally, they had a satellite navigation system, allowing them to function independently without connecting to the building's inner systems, which did not work. They were stored in a special storage unit next to the control room, which could only be opened with an ID card that only he and Erdmann Warner had.
Alfred went to get specialized radiation-resistant suits and protective masks. The team required seven members. Alfred got ten of each.
Charlotte went to get psychological support items, such as reader tablets with pre-installed books, physical games left by the army, and multiple portable TV sets for entertainment.
They returned to the vehicle elevator, each with a cart, hen loaded the stuff onto the cargo trucks and then went to get the non-perishable ration units, water containers, and fuel for the trucks, all located in the same part of the shelter, so they didn't need to split up.
It took them four rounds back and forth with to get the supplies and load them onto the trucks — enough rations and fuel to last a group of ten for approximately four weeks.
Egon and Charlotte left to prepare for the mission announcement, leaving Alfred alone to continue the work. Only the weapons and defense supplies were left to load.
