Shortly after the main gates of the eastern section were secured, enemy forces breached the outer gate of the southern section. Within seven hours, most of the occupants inside the OctaCore were massacred. A few survivors fled toward the eastern section gates, the last available shelter, only to find them locked from the inside.
As those outside pleaded with Egon to open the gates, he and the family heads, along with trusted advisors, debated for over an hour whether to allow entry. By the time a decision was reached, most of the people outside had perished, leaving one side as survivors.
On a monitor before him, Egon saw his friend Alfred leading eleven others toward the vehicle elevator gate of the southeastern sector. No enemies followed their trail. When Alfred reached the gate, his security ID failed to grant access. Egon then opened the gate manually, allowing them into the building.
