Chapter 8 - chapter 9 The King and His Shadows

Screen 1 — Morning Before the Castle

Trunks and Eame rent rooms at a small roadside hotel.

Eame pays for both without hesitation.

Eight hours pass.

Morning comes.

Sunlight spills through thin curtains as the kingdom wakes outside. Soldiers' footsteps echo in the streets. The air feels tense, heavy with war.

Trunks steps outside and looks toward the distant castle.

"So this is it," he says quietly.

Eame nods. "The royal capital."

Without wasting time, the two of them set off toward the castle.

Screen 2 — At the Castle Gates

The moment they reach the castle gates, armored bodyguards step forward.

"You can't enter," one of them says, hand resting on his weapon.

Trunks stops.

Eame steps in calmly. "He's with me."

The guards hesitate, then one of them turns and disappears inside to report.

A short wait follows.

Soon, they are escorted past the gates and into the castle.

Inside, the atmosphere shifts. The tension fades. The king receives them personally, offering tea and a quiet place to sit. His voice is gentle. His eyes look tired, but kind.

This is not the face of a cruel man.

Screen 3 — The King's Words

Trunks looks at the king and asks, plainly, "May I ask your age?"

The king smiles faintly. "Sixty."

He pauses, then adds, "I look older than that. The reason is simple. My son and my daughter rule this place now."

Trunks studies his face. The exhaustion is obvious.

"And your name?" Trunks asks.

"Oxforb," the king replies.

Trunks nods. "Your children. What are their names?"

Oxforb exhales slowly. "My son is named Tdn. My daughter is Jfssica. I have only one son and one daughter."

There is no pride in his voice. Only distance.

The king looks at Trunks in return. "And you, young man. What is your name?"

"Trunks," he answers.

Screen 4 — The Prince's Gaze

The doors open.

Tdn steps inside.

The room grows colder.

His eyes lock onto Trunks immediately. There is no greeting. No respect. Only quiet hostility. He looks Trunks up and down, as if measuring a threat he doesn't like.

Trunks notices.

Eame shifts uneasily. "I should go," she says.

Oxforb nods. "She leaves for the warfront today."

Trunks turns to her. "Be careful."

She gives a short nod and leaves.

The king looks back at Trunks. "You may stay here for now. A room has been prepared."

Tdn says nothing. He just keeps staring.

The tension lingers.

Be continued.
