Chapter Thirty-five – We're moving tonight
Angel blinked rapidly. "No sweetheart. You keep it."
Leah nodded and hugged it close to her little body.
"Angel," Nadir said as he stood up again, " Leah lives here sometimes. She's my niece."
Angel stared at him. "You have family?"
"I do," he replied. " I obviously didn't fall from the sky."
Leah tugged at Angel's sleeve gently. "Do you have any kids I can play with?"
Angel froze.
She looked at Nadir sharply.
He watched her silently.
Angel looked back at Leah.
"Yes baby," she said softly. "I have two kids, A girl and a boy, they're your age."
Leah's eyes widened. "Are they cute?"
"They are," Angel said. "The cutest little things in the world."
Leah nodded seriously. "I believe you."
She turned to Nadir. "Can I show her the garden later?"
Nadir stared at her.
Angel waited for the scary.
But it didn't come.
"Later," he said calmly. "After lunch."
Mara nodded and walked away, humming to herself.
Angel watched her leave.
