Liam chuckled, but I found it to not contain the amusement it usually contained — or probably the one I was used to hearing.
A sudden jolt sent me upright, so loud that the chair scraped behind me.
Liam and Maya's attention turned towards me instantly, each having their degree of concern and worry in their eyes.
"What's wrong?" Maya was the first to ask.
"I just recalled something." I answered, then snapped my head towards Liam. "Liam, I'm sorry. But I have somewhere to be and it's urgent. I'd have to take my leave."
Something like disappointment flashed through his eyes, and my heart twisted while guilt washed over me. It wasn't my fault. I just recalled that I already had an existing appointment.
"It's fine. Do you mind if I drive you to your destination?" He offered as he rose to his feet..
I shook my head instinctively, kindly rejecting his offer. "I appreciate it, but I'd love to go alone."
