Chapter 26 - The X-Men Barbecue (Part 1)

Three days had passed since the conclusion of the war. Everything in Shiroe's world and nation was returning to normal as players and people of the land drew closer in unity. All of them were preparing for various events whilst the leaders of each group of people quickly ratified trade deals and Defense pacts.

Honestly I had lost interest after an entire day of tagging along behind Shiroe. The man had too much energy and too little rest. Fortunately for me however I was fully recovered and given some magical items to test when I got back to New York. My curiosity was peaked at that concept since magical items that increase my protection or enhances my 'stats' would certainly be useful.

Speaking of useful aspects of our mission here, Jester had told us that her reward from the mission was a partial status screen that represented her 'stats' based off her world's powers. She also described that she was given a decision that was personal. Obviously that information was kept away from us all, the obnoxiously cute woman using her charm to dodge every single query that we had.

The rewards were seemingly different for everyone however as Aegon; once he awoke from his combat fatigue, told us that he was given a similar 'status' page but forced to awaken the dormant magics of the Valerian bloodline that he was from. Apparently he was truly going to become a Dragon Lord at the rate that he was progressing... Oh, and he gained magic, because of course he did.

Loki had received the screen as well as an assortment of blueprints that he was planning on sharing with Odin that would ensure that the Bifrost was easily replicated in future if anything occurred. Shiroe had received an immediate XP dump that got him to level 120 as an Enchanter; a level that was 20 levels above the maximum. Apparently he had choices to make as an entirely new series of classes were available to him and could apparently allow him to manipulate reality in such a way that he could create warp gates and other magical marvels.

Meanwhile, Tony and I were stuck here chilling out over these last three days... Stewing in our desire to go back but our inability due to my health. That problem was fixed however as after three days of being healed constantly and taking it easy we were about to depart.

"Drecarios, Tony, I must thank you for coming at such short notice to aid us." Shiroe was standing in front of his newly formed guild; the man who used to be a person of the land awkwardly looking at him in reverence off to the side.

Tony, as per usual, waved in his general direction and just rolled his eyes lazily. "Don't worry about it kid, helped me figure out some issues with my suit and the chat will give us all the rewards we need." The enchanter just shook his head and turned to address me, ignoring the petulant man-child.

"I mean it. In future if you all need help, let me know and I'll turn up." I smiled and leaned onto my back foot, my arms crossing in front of my chest.

"Enough glasses. We're friends and in this together. We got each other's backs and we don't need any thanks for it, got it?" He chuckled and awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, his entire outfit suddenly looking uncomfortable to the magic-user.

"Got it! I'll see you both next time then?"

Tony smirked cunningly before raising his eyebrows. "Who could stop us? Hahahaha!" He hit the return button on the chat screen as I just watched him dissolve into particles and fade into the wind.

"He's right you know? Why would I pass up an opportunity for magic and mayhem...?" I hit my button and was met but the jubilant goodbyes and farewells of Shiroe's guild, Log Horizon. I smiled internally as the world faded into a matte black and then surged back into a flash of rainbow lights that then translated into the sight of my limousine.

What followed was a small read-out of my name, class, health total, magic power total, guild affiliation and level. My class was Mutant, my health was 1000 total, my magic power was 5; a somewhat flaccid and annoying number, my 'guild' was Frost International due to my family and my level was a series of question marks...

It was all rather simplistic and made me a bit envious of Jester's status screen as she supposedly got a full status sheet with proficiencies, level, class, inventory summary, health total, armour class, spell list, stat points and even a personal section that described her past and story as it currently was. (Author Note: Just Imagine a DND character sheet)

The screen shrunk away into the top left of my vision and stayed there as the chat room emerged and several notifications arose.

I looked down at my clothing and noted that I was sporting the same clothes that I had intended to wear to the barbecue. It seemed that the Multiversal chat literally ensures everything is as perfect as it can be. The only notable difference was the golden rings and earrings that I now sported that supposedly increased my stats and would counter charm effects.

I blinked as suddenly my brain rewired itself and stuttered, every single textbook on advanced analytical science, physics, biology, chemistry and any other knowledge i had gained in my last life flashed into the forefront of my consciousness. It was all there now, ready to be pulled up and remembered in seconds.

Shaking away the sensation I was immediately inundated with an immense amount of information as every single molecule and atomic structure that made up my car was relayed to me. Protons, neutrons and electrons were becoming easier to understand as my instinctive ability to create materials and structures increased to levels I didn't think were possible.

Before, I could slowly turn the car into titanium and use other atoms as sacrifice sub-atomically for the process... Now? Now I was capable of pulling on the stuff that made up the subatomic particles to create new ones. Einstein was correct, everything was just energy in different states and I was now capable of drawing on the energy around me to create atoms from seemingly 'nothing'. This advancement was punctuated by the inundation of my chest with the sensation of butterflies as something that was small and insignificant gained a large boost or upgrade in quantity and perhaps quality. It was no doubt the MP boost I received.

Finally there was a single Gacha draw that shone on the chat interface, a golden snitch that flickered and mimicked the original from the Harry Potter movies. I reached a single finger out to press the button when the car came to a stop and the voice of my driver echoed through the com-system.

"Sir, we've reached the mansion." I coughed and drew back my hand, pulling the screen away to the side and looking out the window at the resplendent garden sitting behind a lush metal gate with a large 'X' symbol embossed in the middle.

'Very subtle... What is it with heroes doing this?' The cough turned into a sigh very quickly as the gates opened and the driver slowly drifted forwards into the courtyard.

The mansion was a massive building that was two to three stories tall but sprawled out over several hundred feet. All of the fixtures, statues, materials and decorations were dripping in wealth. To juxtapose that sense of refinement however was the general buzz of energy that could be felt percolating inside, the windows left wide open and kids looking out of them down at my limo.

A sense of odd euphoria rushed over me when I considered that I was visiting the X-Men school for the first time... One of the most iconic locations in the Marvel comics and cinematic universe. Not only was I meeting with Rogue again but I was going to see Xavier, Wolverine; Logan, Jean Grey, Storm and the rest of the X-Men.

This sensation was only enhanced when I noticed Wolverine and Rogue standing near the main entryway, Charles sitting next to them with his hands crossed over his lap and Storm standing behind his wheelchair. It was at that moment that one of my rings glimmered and a mental presence was shunted from my mind by the force of the enchantments that had surrounded my person. Immunity from 'charm' effects was OP apparently as it deflected mind reading as well.; apparently.

"Pull up closer to them." I commanded softly as they were joined by Jean Grey who was slightly younger than I assumed she would be. If Rogue was in her 20's, Jean looked close to her late teens... It was a touch odd but I let that slip away from my mind as it mattered little to her power levels.

The limo came to a halt in front of the group, the other mutants all tensing in anxiety. I was a mutant that they had very little idea on. My powers were unknown to them and as far as they knew I had joined the Hellfire Club. Jeeze I almost forgot that I killed the main leader of that club here in America... This has been a wild week or two...

My driver stepped out and walked around to my door, opening it to the fresh spring air of upper-state New York. Breathing in deeply I stepped out and smirked mischievously as I looked out over the X-men, their energy levels blasting my newfound senses.

'That's something I can do now, huh?' I internally shook myself from my musings and walked over, my gait rather calm and collected despite the rawness of peace in comparison to war. My instincts were screaming that there was a threat somewhere, another Goblin to kill, but I thrust that to the side and let my ego out a little as I stepped towards the group.

"Someone said there was a party~?" I help up a six-pack of beer and also held a bottle of Château d'Yquem; my personal favourite wine.

"Heh, I like this kid." Logan stated bluntly before turning around and walking inside, his short stature affecting his 'cool' exit more than I expected. I did an equivalent of a smile and wave, taking advice from my favourite group of penguins.

The group officially came forwards and introduced themselves. Charles was calm and collected, erring on the side of caution with his words as he simply spoke his name and that of Storm behind him. Rogue punched me in the shoulder when I asked what 'this beauty's name was', her massive smile belying her 'anger'. Jean was reserved and held back a little more, as if my presence was in some way painful to her; a consequence of the Phoenix force no doubt. All in all it was an easy introduction which proceeded with all of us walking through the expansive mansion towards the back yard where over a hundred kids were all chatting and messing around.

As soon as I reached the back yard I started mentally listing the characters that they had so far. Kitty Pryde was obviously there... There was the frosty guy that was heavily crushing on Rogue but lacked brain cells. Angel, or Warren Kenneth, was there as well. Beast was conversing with Magneto...

'Wait, what the fuck!?'

Erik lehnsherr was peacefully standing amongst the X-Men and wasn't getting attacked. He was standing beside Mystique who was as blue as the sky above whilst the frogman was in the background talking with Cyclops. I'm sorry, MAGNETO, was standing in front of me being peaceful with the X-Men and no one was blinking a fucking eye!

"Hey, what are you doing Frost?" Storm was speaking to me as the rest joined the barbecue. Rogue was wandering over towards the snack table, looking over her shoulder at me with a cute little blush. Charles simply wheeled his way over to Logan who was starting to cook some steaks, rubbing spices into them.

I sighed and then walked forwards towards Rogue, the lovely woman gathering up two plates-worth of food for us.

'Fuck my life...'
