Half an hour had passed since I first arrived in Stargate Command alongside Luke. I had vague memories of the Stargate series from my last life which made me a little excited with the idea of being able to replicate the Stargates themselves. Meeting the 'characters' of the series was also an experience... Jack O'Neil, the leader of SG-1 was a natural smart ass and would definitely fit in with Tony. Teal'c was the serious type with a deep warrior mentality that made me just a little uncomfortable, he was nice enough though. Daniel Jackson was the real problem, he wouldn't stop asking questions about our worlds and was beyond curious as to effect that superpowers had effected history in Marvel.
Shaking my head a little I looked around the laboratory of Samantha Carter, Sam. I had been dragged here by the woman after she had discovered my true abilities, her insatiable curiosity drawing my own infatuation with physics out. Now, my knowledge wasn't as sophisticated and all-encompassing as hers' but I was no slouch after hanging out with Tony for over a week. My lack of knowledge was expressed immediately when she showed me her prototype designs for a Naquadah-based generator that used the chemical reaction of the material to spark a small fusion reaction inside that lasted for 0.001 Milliseconds every five seconds.
The details were, complex, to say the least, but the idea seemed to be theoretically possible from what she was explaining...
"I believe if I can find a material that can resist the thermal exchange of the material into plasma that this generator could survive periodic fusion processes with a shelf life of around twenty years." I nodded along in complete understanding, materials were my thing, atoms, sub-atomic particles and energy was my thing; not that I understood it all, it was something I'd have to fix in the near future.
"Hmmm, would Metallic Hydrogen work for this generator?" Her eyes widened and she rushed over to her computer, checking the database for the existence of the material. She took several minutes and eventually returned, her eyes gleaming in scientific hunger.
"What is it and how does it work!?" She grabbed a book and a pen and waited for me, her pen poised over the page.
"As you know, hydrogen normally exists as a diatomic molecule when it's a gas. Under extreme pressure, that molecular structure collapses and the hydrogen becomes atomic, with its electrons forced into a shared, metallic state." She was scribbling furiously as I continued.
"Metallic hydrogen essentially turns the electrons into a kind of delocalized sea, drifting through the lattice of protons rather than belonging to any one atom. Maintaining that state usually requires immense pressure, the kind you only find inside gas giants like Jupiter or deep within stars like Sol." The pen was a blur upon the book, her hunched shoulders making her look really cute, almost like a cat pawing away at a blanket.
"My powers let me mimic that pressure by altering how subatomic particles interact with one another. Think of it like flicking a switch inside the particles, changing the effective forces between them and forcing matter into states it shouldn't normally be able to reach." Her hand halted on her notebook as she began tapping the end of the pen onto her lip in contemplation.
She looked up at me with a small grin. "That could definitely solve the issue of thermal regulation considering the fact that the material could handle heats from a star... A massive, natural, fusion generator." I grinned in response.
"Could you make it right now?" I licked my lips and looked over towards the Naquadah that was strewn across the table in small pebbles.
"Yes... Wait... Now that I consider it, I could make anything at any point..." She frowned in confusion.
Seeing the inquiry in her expression I sighed and began explaining... "Recently I learned that I could take any energy and use it to create subatomic particles or matter. I could create protons and neutrons from the thermal energy the sun puts off or even use Sound as a basis for creation... I was just thinking about splitting atoms to create energy which I would then syphon to create whatever I wanted..."
"Holy shit!" I chuckled as she dropped her notebook on the table and began calculating the amount of energy that fission could create. She came up with an answer in less than a minute.
"You could create whatever you wanted, whenever you wanted..." I shook my head.
"Not really, I need to know what I am creating and the larger it is the more complex it becomes and the more likely inaccuracy starts bleeding in." We fell silent in contemplation. I shrugged, then lifted my hand, palm upward. A small, blinking point of light hovered above my right hand, the faint flutter of displaced air the only sign that atoms were splitting. I drew in the escaping radiation, feeding it back into existence, first as subatomic particles, then atoms, then a lattice of those atoms forced together and strung into the shape of an ingot. For the first time in, this, Earth's history someone had created 'Perfect' Metallic Hydrogen and I was the claimant to that title.
"Here, take this and use it for your generator." Whilst I handed it over I spread my senses into the Naquadah on the table, measuring its atomic structure, lattice and framework so I could replicate it in the future. Waste not, want not.
Sam took the ingot with awe and reverence, her hands shaking slightly before she set it down on her microscope's dais. No doubt she would examine it, scan it and analyse it thoroughly when I was gone.
From there she introduced multiple different devices that she had discovered or been given for study. Goa'uld hand devices, Staff-Weapons, Zat'Nik'tel; Zat-guns, EMP devices and some Data crystals that the Goa'uld used to run their computer systems, navigation systems, Hyper drives and other subsidiary tasks. The crystal was perhaps the most worthwhile part of coming to the lab, besides spending time with the adorable scientist and learning how Naquadah was structured.
Tony was going to love Naquadah and the Crystals. I needed to start looking out for myself as well. I had powerful abilities, sure, but I could still be killed and maimed as I was. My body was still human and could easily be dealt with by powerful enough enemies.
'I guess i'll need to read a lot of engineering manuals, physics textbooks, attend programming courses and electronics lessons. Maybe I could get Tony to teach me some? Nah, he'd just refer me to someone else so I didn't waste his time.' My thoughts came to a halt when I saw Sam lean over the table, reaching for a certain item to share with me... The view was, in my most cultured opinion, divine.
My luck was shit however when a coughing from the entrance of the lab echoed out, drawing my attention away from the beautiful scenery before me. Daniel was standing there, a smile on his face as he held several tablets in his hands.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt you two, but I was wondering if you had seen any of these languages in your universe?" I had the urge to groan but held it back as this was an excellent opportunity to use a power that I usually get very few chances to use.
"Sure." Daniel walked over and placed down the tablets as Sam pulled out a new material. I scanned the material completely and grinned at the promising nature of the Trinium.
"Nice Sam, I think that will be a really good material for space ships and armour." Her eyes widened and she started asking numerous questions which I quickly answered, the atoms inside the material being completely truthful as to the amount of heat and damage they could sustain.
"Ahum, what do you think about these tablets?" I looked over them and their meaning instantly flashed into my mind, my Xenoglossy working instantaneously.
"This one is from a civilisation called the Asgard that refers to a council of the great four species that were allied in a defensive pact, research pacts and numerous trade agreements. These other species are, in order, The Alterans; the oldest of the council, The Knox or Nox; The most peaceful, The Furlings; The most Warrior-like and The Asgard themselves; The most genetically sophisticated." Daniel was gaping in awe whilst Carter was listening in with rapt attention.
"The Alterans, as the tablet is relaying, were a species that were millions of years old and so technologically immense that they created the Astria Porta; Star gates and that they had the power to quench stars, fill Blackholes and even 'Ascend'..." Daniel was fanboying so hard internally that it was leaking into his hands, both of them shaking up and down like Izuku from My Hero Academia when he watched All Might too much.
"The Nox were a peaceful species that were pacifists and masters at defence, stealth and healing. They supposedly had entire nature worlds that they would anchor their space vessels to and then cloak them. Supposedly, after the Alterans left this Galaxy, they retreated back to their home world and the few other colonies that they possessed in order to allow new species to evolve." Carter was nodding whilst giving Daniel a pointed look, one that he missed completely as he handed over the next tablet.
"The Furlings were the most honourable species that the other three had run into and were so strategically-minded that they cut off three whole solar systems from the galaxy and then tied them to the gravitational well of the galaxy; allowing them to be unaffected by every other species whilst also using Stargate-like technology to traverse the vast universe. Their location is unknown as of about 200,000 thousand years ago." I flipped to the next tablet and grinned.
"The Asgard are a species in decline. They have strained their genealogy and the stability of their genome to allow for a massively extended lifespan through the production of clones. Their genetics have eroded so much that they have become a shadow of what they used to be and look like. Their technology, in their humble opinion, is getting closer to the Alterans but lacks the extensive knowledge in gene-therapy that they were capable of; due mainly to the amount of time the Alterans have existed as a species." Carter gasped whilst Daniel paled considerably.
I hummed before murmuring to myself a little... "I wonder if I can edit genomes with my powers?" Both of them turned towards me and shook their heads a little, both of them over the fact that I had so much power at my fingertips. The sad fact was that I was nothing comparison to figures like Wanda, Thanos, Reed Richards, Doom and many more that I'm probably forgetting.
Luke Skywalker- Hey, Drecarios, we have to go. General wants some time to mull over the state of the multiverse before we come back.
Drecarios Frost- Alright, got'ya... I'll be there in a minute, just got to say goodbye to Daniel and Sam
"I'll see you next time Draco, maybe by then we'll have more to share with one another?" Sam was blushing a little, her posture stuck somewhere between relaxed and awkward. It was obvious she was inexperienced at social interaction, something I found extremely cute as most people I knew from my last life were arrogant sons of bitches.
"Sure! I'll make sure to find some advancements in science that you guys haven't gotten yet, maybe you could publish them and get some more influence? That'd help us help you..." She gulped and nodded eagerly as Daniel smirked off to the side, I could tell that he wasn't going to let her live this down.
I leaned over and kissed her once on each cheek before patting her on the shoulder, giving a handshake to Daniel next as her brain metaphorically exploded. The man's smile widened before he winked towards Carter and said his goodbyes to me.
With that I walked off, an airman following behind me as I calmly made my way to the gate room. There was no way I wasn't going to scan the entire make up and structure of that device before I went. If I could re-create the stargate then that means I could save millions, potentially billions in transporting items to Mars or Space in general. Shit, who says I couldn't scale it up and make space-highways for future spaceships?
My musing finished just as I stepped into the gate room, Luke having a cordial discussion with the general and Jack as I focussed all my efforts on copying the combined structure of the Stargate into my mind. It was surprisingly easy, though filled with materials that were beyond all Earth-based material science. In other words, it was excellent.
"Thank you for coming over and clarifying the state of the multiverse to us gentlemen. Hopefully in future our meetings and discussions can be as conducive to positive relations between our universes." The General was keeping his poise though his body language screamed discomfort at the fact that existence was just that much larger now.
"No, you have our thanks for being most courteous hosts and having the will to not threaten or hurt us upon first contact. I sincerely hope that all our future negotiations and talks will proceed with as much candor as this meeting has." Both men shook on their words, departing farewells beginning just as Sam and Daniel entered the room for their farewells to Luke.
Finally, as I finished saying goodbye to Teal'c, the Stargate was replicated inside my mind. All of the crystals, coding, materials and internal mechanisms were copied down to the last sub-atomic particle.
I waved as the light swept me up and dropped me back into the spare bedroom of Stark's Tower. Giddiness swelled up inside my chest as I opened the door in a fluster and made my way to the bar area. That was when I was met with a serious-looking Tony and a slightly saddened Pepper.
"What's going on guys?" They both turned towards me as the elevator finally finished cycling back up to the top floor.
"Apparently we are needed by shield for the Avengers Initiative." All my excitement deflated as exhaustion seeped in.
"Really...? What fuck up have they made now...?" I had to play the part.
"They lost the tesseract to a Norse god or something." Pepper grabbed a file from the table and quickly stood up, heading up to Tony and kissing him before taking off for the elevator.
"Well, fuck."
"Ew, no, I don't want to fuck you." I laughed at the inventor as he watched the hundreds of holographic videos spread out before him. I joined in watching and suddenly felt a knot in my stomach.
"We just can't catch a break..."
"Nope, seems like the universe hates us. But, positives are, I just finished upgrading my latest suit with the Metallic Hydrogen. Should make me even more of a boss than I was!" I shook my head and simply watched the videos. Of hulk tearing up Hells Kitchen against Abomination. Black Widow fighting in back alleys against other spies. Hawkeye shooting an explosive arrow into a bundle of Dynamite within a factory, through a small gap in a window. Captain America breaking through bunkers with soldiers and super-human ability. And finally of Thor summoning lightning to Smite a massive armoured golem that looked suspiciously like a defence golem that Loki had showed us at one point.
"Let's get ready then." He nodded solemnly. We had both been in war before and now we knew what could happen if we didn't stop this god... This version of Loki.
