1 Month Before Entrance Exams
It was Dawn in the Hoshino-Itsuro Manor. Everything was quite as the first Rays of sunlight greeted the morning dew.
In a large room in this magnificent building Kagami laid in his bed asleep. Hello lay on his back, arms posed, and facial expression unreadable. He looked like a princess in a deep sleep, completely unmoving.
He wore a gold eye mask that had two open eyes stitched on the front and black and white ear buds.
His room was devoid of any colour that wasn't black, white, or gold creating an atmosphere of emptiness around him.
The clock on his left showed the time, 05:59. Right as it struck six Kagami shot up from his sheets as if his body was on autopilot. He yawned removing his ear buds but kept his eye mask and got out of his bed.
Before leaving he fixed the sheets and gold pillows. He opened the door to his bathroom. It was the same as his room, the tiles on the floor were black and on the walls they were white and they all had golden cracks in them.
He brushed his teeth and finally took off his eye mask to wash his face and hair with a million different products before tieing his hair in a neat bun.
After he was done he left the bathroom clean and proceeded to make his way to the dining room for breakfast.
On the way he greeted everyone as they started their duties he took a peak outside to see the gardeners watering the plants. He finally reached the dinning room where his grandfather and grandmother were sitting.
The room had a long table, Yuri was on one end of the table while Tsuyoshi was on the other end. There was a portrait on a wall in the middle. It showed the entire family. A young Kagami about 3 years old with his parents and all four of his grandparents in their garden.
"Grandfather Tsuyoshi, grandmother Yuri good morning to you both." Kagami bowed gracefully in front of them.
Yuri was drinking a cup of tea, her long white hair cascaded down in waves and curls. She had a few wrinkles on her face, but other than that she looked quite youthful. One might confuse her for a model with her beauty.
Tsuyoshi was reading a book, his glasses set firmly upon his face. His black hair had a few streaks of Gray. He look like a stern man with a scar running down his right eye. His hands and arms also had scars.
"Can't you speak to us normally already?" Yuri huffed, "We're your grandparents for crying out loud! Is it so hard to drop the prim and proper thing infront of us."
Kagami looked at her confused, "Grandmother Yuri..." His face quickly went deadpan as he his shoulders slouched, "Why are you always ruining my rhythm?"
Kagami pouted as he sat down, a bored expression painted on his face. "So...?" Tsuyoshi looked up from his book, Kagami looked at him this his eyebrow raised, "What?"
Tsuyoshi sighed, "Aren't you excited? Today is the day, you go for the recommendation exams."
"Oh..That...Yay, I guess?" There was no enthusiasm in his tone it sounded more like a bother to him.
"Oh come on!" Tsuyoshi put down his book, "You've got to have more spirit than that!" His voice boomed as he stood up his fist raised in the air. His eyes ignited with a child like passion, unnatural for a man of his age or stature.
"Would you please calm down it's not that big of a deal."
Tsuyoshi gasped at his words, "Not that big of a deal?"
Kagami ignored his grandfather's rant, "The real question is why I have to take the recommendation exams?" He turned to Yuri for answers.
She put her cup down, "It would be unfair to send you to the regular exams." She sat up straight.
"You are trained by us, two retired pros, so comparing you to untrained individuals would be useless as we know the results already," she poured herself another cup of tea.
Kagami stared at her intensely, "That is the worst lie I've ever heard you speak," he blankly stated turning to his grandfather, "What's the real reason?"
Tsuyoshi picked up his book, "I have no idea what you speak of grandchild, we simply want to ensure you have more of a challenge in your heroic endeavours." He sounded like he was from a script.
"You two are insufferable," Kagami layed his head on the table.
Soon breakfast was served. After he had finished he went to take a bath and prepared to get dressed. "I wander what I shall wear for the exam?"
He took out a few outfits and tried them on. He finally settled on an outfit after ten tries, it was a simple black tracksuit and white t-shirt.
He his clothes into a backpack and wore his school uniform. He exited the mansion seeing his grandparents outside waiting for him. "Why are you two here?"
"You didn't think we were staying home were you?" Tsuyoshi was leaning against the car he was wearing a pair of sunglasses and what could only be described as a biker outfit with leather everywhere. "Of course! You can't come to the exams with me! And grandfather you can't come with me looking like that, you look like a delinquent!"
Kagami gestured to the whole of Tsuyoshi specially stopping at his greasy hair. "Stop being dramatic boy, this is how your grandfather used to dress when I was younger!"
"Were you also a pain for your parents and teachers?" Kagami crossed his arms looking his grandfather up and down, while Tsuyoshi waved him off, "Details aren't important boy!"
Kagami rolled his eyes turning to his grandmother who was already seated in the car for help, "Don't look at me. I've had the displeasure of knowing him since we were kids. Now it's your turn."
She gestured for the driver to open the door for Kagami, "Now get in if you don't want to be late."
Kagami sighed knowing that this was going to be a long ride. They finally arrived to their location U.A Highschool. There was a buzz of commotion outside of it with figures entering the gates. Some of these figures were hero and some were powerful and influential people.
They were all accompanied by teenagers, the recommended candidates. Kagami looked around some familiar faces appeared in the crowd. He could spot the famous Yaoyorozu family along with their young daughter. The other familiar face was the infamous and fiery tempered number two hero himself along with his own son.
" Well, we're here! Yay feeling nervous yet?" Tsuyoshi put on a pair of sunglasses smirking at Kagami, "It looks like you'll have some tough competition to give you a real challenge."
"Why would I be nervous?" Kagami looked out the window with a bored expression, "I already know my victory is guaranteed, none of them recommendation or not can change that."
Yuri stared at Kagami then at Tsuyoshi, "Heavens Kagami aren't you confident it almost reminded me of Tsuyoshi for a second," she shook her head in disbelief, "It felt as if the world was ending at the thought of two of him living in the same roof."
Tsuyoshi's head moved so fast in Yuri's direction one could have sworn to hear a popping sound come from if, "Ha?! What's wrong with him being like his old man?" Kagami on the other hand simply looked slightly offended at the comment.
"Grandmother please understand that the confidence I have in my own abilities to complete a task does not equate to the prideful, overzealous, egotistical, showboating ways of Grandfather Tsuyoshi. I'm simply stating the obvious." Kagami huffed before turning back to watching the gates of U.A.
Tsuyoshi clutched his chest and dramatically let out a groan of pain, "I feel so betrayed!" He turned to the two in the back seats of the car, "Both my best friend and my grandson share the same hatred for this poor innocent old man. What have I done to deserve this cruel fate?"
Yuri and Kagami both glared at him with a raised eyebrow and an unentertained expressions, they began speaking in perfect sync, " Is he seriously making himself the victim? After all those years of tormenting me? The nerve, the audacity, and the unrestrained shamelessness of this decrepit geezer has reached new lows!"
Tsuyoshi and the driver both sank in their seats tring by all means to avoid the two pairs of Basilisk eyes staring at them. "I hate it when they double team. Two versus one? Where the fairness in that?"
Yuri huffed and looked at the time, "We don't have the time to be dealing with your antics the exam starts in a few minutes."
Kagami turned to open the door and got out of the car as fast as he could. He looked around seeing less people going into the gate. He was about to rush inside but was swiftly stopped by his grandfather grabbing him by the bag.
"Ok! Not so fast there kiddo! We're coming with you," Kagami looked at him with a mix of annoyance, disbelief, and what seemed to be worth, "Grandmother, I think the maggots eating away at grandfather's brain have finally reached the important parts!"
Yuri claimed out of the car as well revealing the stunning white dress she was wearing, "Although it pains me to say it, Tsuyoshi is correct. We will be accompanying you to the exam."
Kagami tried to free himself from Tsuyoshi's iron grip, "But at this is an exam, not a bring your family to school event."
Tsuyoshi ignored his grandson's attempt to escape and started pull him towards the entrance, "Normally the exams are kept private from the public, however this coming year U.A wants to change how it does things."
Yuri walked next to them calmly following them, "Which includes the physical portion of the exams. For the first time the recommender can watch the recommended."
Kagami froze and his face turned pale at the thought of these two watching him during the exam, "This is why you wanted me to go to the recommendation exams isn't it?"
"Guilty as charged kiddo!" Tsuyoshi laughed at this point he was dragging Kagami like a lifeless body, "Don't be so dramatic we're not that bad."
"Plus it will good for us to see you in action for the first time." Yuri commented taking out a hand fan from her handbag and faning Kagami with it.
" My life is over!"
The three walked into the building and so began the recommendation entrance exams.
