A gasp escaped her lips as she staggered backward, losing balance. Instead of hitting the floor, she stumbled into his side, his firm arm steadying her. She met his glacial yet mischievous gaze.
"You can't run, Selina. You've clearly had a rough time—your skin's showing it. You need a spa," he said, scanning her tanned skin as if he were a meticulous dermatologist.
Selina's heart skipped as she couldn't risk Zane seeing her true face. Not even others.
She yanked her arm free, stepping away. "I'm not doing a spa!"
He adjusted his glasses perched on his nose, eyes still intense on her, observing her petrified reaction from earlier. He couldn't tell if his little gesture to spoil her and spend time with her had offended her gravely.
It doesn't seem so, the more he observed her.
Perhaps it was something else. What could it be?
Calm, lazy, yet persistent, he uttered, "Alright. We'll skip the spa. Though we're still shopping."
