I carried Alpha carefully in my arms. Blood continued to drip from her body onto the floor as we moved. Eta walked quickly ahead of us, leading the way through the underground basement. The long pathways stretched out in every direction under dim yellow lights. Eliza followed behind us in silence, her eyes moving around as she looked at the walls, the doors, and the quiet space.
*Clack*
Eta opened a heavy door with a sharp sound and stepped inside. We followed her into a clean white room. The walls, the floor, and the ceiling were all pure white. In the center of the room stood a large transparent glass chamber that looked like an incubator.
"Put her inside the incubator," Eta said. She pointed toward the glass structure and then moved around the room, switching on buttons and panels one after another. Soft lights came on, and machines started humming quietly.
