Looking at the large thick covered book that looked like its been sitting on the book shelf for years. Something told Emilia opening the book was not a good idea, but being a ner...reader. her Curiosity took the best of her "when has opening a book ever hurt anyone" she said convincing herself that there was nothing wrong with a dusty, old book with a signet. A skull with two arrows that resembled the arms of time pointing in different directions drawn on the large bookcover with some sort of rune symbols drawn around it. she wasn't sure what it looked like with all the dust that had settled on it, blowing off the dust to the best of her ability, she caught a glimpse of the symbol clearly it was indeed a creepy cult like symbol.
the warning bells rang even louder in Emilia's head but it was just a book, nothing could possibly go wrong. taking one more look at the book cover she opened to the first page, it read:
" time is the limitation. But never limited . all beings a subject to time. all beings created to die, all except one. time cannot deny"
Reading the note she paused trying to decide if she was going to flip to the next page. the note gave her no information whatsoever on what the book was about. settling on flipping the page "what are you reading?" a male voice spoke startling her from over her shoulder making her slam the book shut on instinct like she was just caught doing something wrong. Whipping her head back it was Seth glancing carefully over her shoulder.
"Nothing serious" she dismissed, her brows drawn together in a frown "what were you doing over my shoulder?" she asked, "oh nothing i was just curious about the book you were reading... I've never seen in this book before" he said taking one more look at the book.
"this library is quite big...there are countless books you haven't seen" she replied, still annoyed that he startled her. "That is true"" Seth replied, letting silence sit between them for a while Emilia kept her eyes pinned on him wondering how long he intended to stand behind her, "by the way...what's the book about?" he asked.
"I'm not sure...it seems like a book for a cult"
"a book for a cult? Can i take a look?" Seth asked stretching out his hand, Emilia passd the book to him without a thought.
opening the book. he stared at it for a long while with a puzzled look on his face which bothered Emilia. "So what is it about?" she asked eagerly.
"I...don't know" Seth trailed still utterly confused. "what do you mean you don't know...it's right there!" Emilia exclaimed wondering if the werewolf boy needed a pair of glasses. she would happily lend him one of hers.
"Yes but I can't read it" Seth explained flipping through the pages. Emilia raised her eyebrows like she just heard something ridiculous. "give me that" she snatched the book from his hand. Looking at the open book, she could clearly read everything on the page, turning her gaze towards him, she asked "are you blind...its clearly written here in English"
"no its not" Seth argued "those are ancient symbols"
Ancient symbols?...looking at the book and back at Seth her confusion doubled, he didn't seem like he was lying but her eyes could never deceive her. "what ancient symbols?" she asked
"Its an ancient language called Vatu...i think that is what it is" Seth reasoned furrowing his brows.
"Vatu?" she repeated in question, waiting for him to give her more infromation.
"if I remember correctly—its an ancient language used by demons to communicate" Emilia listened to him "demons?" this was getting interesting. "yes its been over five hundred years. the language got lost to time" he added walking around to sit on the table in front of her.
"why did it get lost to time?" Emilia asked, intrigued by the tale. Adjusting himself uncomfortably on the table, he replied "well...its a long story no one likes to talk about but this Academy used to have four seats. the angels, demon, werewolves and vampires. They were the most superior beings amongst the other beings" he paused taking a deep breath. "then what happened to the demons" Emilia probed, leaning forward eyes widening for more information. she enjoyed fictional stories and this one took the cake.
"Ummm...its...they got wiped out" Seth replied ending the story abruptly. scratching the back of his head, his eyes darted around visibly uncomfortable. seeing this Emilia leaned back into the couch the book still resting on her lap she was trying to make sense of what he just told her "if the demons were amongst the superior beings—why did they get wiped out and who wiped them out?" She asked hoping she could get more answers.
"we weren't told who instigated the wipe out, we were only told they became hungry for power and wanted to rule over every realm" Seth answered hesitantly getting up from his sitting position. he turned to leave, he added "you should drop that book where you got it—i don't think anything good would come from holding it" saying that he walked away leaving Emilia alone in the reading lounge.
if the book was written in an ancient language as he said then how is she able to read it, when she was only human. Looking down at the book in her hand "but I didn't pick you...you picked me" she muttered.
Getting up from the couch, it was time for her to leave. the sun had already begun to set and the werewolf boy had left her alone in the library. she wasn't looking forward to staying here till dark. Taking one more hard look at the book she drops it on the couch. "I don't know what's going on here...and I'm not curious. I just want to leave this place in one piece" she muttered making her way out of the library.
At the far end of the library a shadow formed from smoke hovered between the shelves watching her. vanishing into smoke when she exited the library.
"I knew she was quite interesting, but it seems there is more than meets the eye" Damien said walking out of his hiding place"this will be fun" he smiled.
Back in her dorm room, it felt eerily quiet. Emilia was sitted on her bed lookking at the empty bed across from her. She hadn't seen Camilla ever since she recovered from her injuries. she hoped it would stay that way. but it seemed she ddn't hope hard enough. right at that moment the door opened and in walked Camilla. she looked like a complete mess with bruises all over her body. her blonde white hair that was usually well kept tangled with leaves and branches sticking in them.
Emilia watched her walk to her bed, fighting the urge to drag her already messy hair and make her feel twice the pain she felt writhing in agony that night. she wished had not showed up that whatever happened to her out there would have killed her, but what was she expecting this was her room as well.
Seeing Camilla turn to her she frowned picking up the small knife on her table, she kept for self defence. pointing it at her. "Don't come any closer" Camilla stopped. her eyes reddened fighting tears from falling "Emilia I'm...."
"i don't want to hear it" Emilia cut her off, turning her face away.
"Please let me explain"
"I said I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT!!" Emilia screamed, and as if on cue thunder erupted from the sky and it started raining.
