The duo sat in silence, Emilia at the corner of her bed squeezing into the wall wanting to become one with it, while Damien sat at the edge of the bed with his legs crossed the one at the top swinging back and forth while he gazed up at the ceiling.
"you should know the scary person here is you" Damien broke the silence
Emilia didn't know what he was talking about, was his insanity finally catching up to him what about her was scary?
the rain continued pouring from the heavens with no sign of stopping anytime soon. "you should stop crying Emilia, at this rate people will get suspicious" Damien said casting her a look with a smile. Emilia struggled to tell if this smile was genuine or one of his trademark 'i'm a crazy person' smile. and what did he mean she should stop crying, he just murdered someone and he was acting like it was another tuesday.
"If you're bothered about my crying, you should leave me alone" Emilia said sniffing, her eyes blood shot and all puffed up.
"I would have been on my way but you need to stop the rain" Damien replied
Emilia wiped her eyes, the feeling of overwhelming sadness replaced with confusion "what do you mean I should stop the rain—i'm not the one causing it"
The pouring rain slowed to a drizzle until it finally stopped. the sky cleared illuminating the moonlight. With the weather all cleared up Damien turned his face to Emilia with a quirky grin "see, I told you"
Emilia stared at Damien she felt a chuckle threatening to escape her lips but she held it in, there was nothing about the situation that was funny. was she getting infected by his insanity from being around him too often. Emilia's brows furrowed she didn't like it—his influence, his presence, everything about him unsettled her
"....for that reason I'll be staying here for the night"
Blinking twice, "wait what?" she exclaimed
"Didn't you hear me, i'll be your roommate for the night" he repeated. she heard that part not the part where he explained his reasons for spending the night in her room.
"Is it not against the rules for a male and female student to share a room?" Emilia asked
"Oh yes it is, you could get punished if you get caught" Damien replied getting up from her bed. Emilia watched with her mouth parted slightly as he stood taking off his blazer, his hands unbuttoning his shirt.
She turned her face away "then why are you staying if you know we would get punished?"
"If—we get caught" Damien completed "and we won't, not unless i want to. Plus don't you need help disposing off that body?" he nudged his head towards the dead body by her bed. Emilia stretched her neck to see Camilla's pale lifeless face, her eyes widened looking petrified towards the ceiling. She shuddered. "What do you mean i need help. You killed her—"
"because she wanted to kill you. if i had not shown up in time it would have been you lying lifeless on the floor" Damien interrupted
he had a point "besides if they were to investigate the murder you will be the culprit" he just had to add making Emilia whip her head to his direction. She wanted to protest but her words fell back into her mouth.
he was pulling off his shirt, her eyes following the movement of his arms, his muscles contracted with each movement. his skin was pale white and it glistened beautifully under the moonlight. her eyes traveled down to his six packs and his toned chest, she couldn't believe he was hiding all of that under his shirt, His body looked like a work of art. A sculpture made from the hands of god—simply perfect.
"You should close your mouth...a fly could find its way inside" Damien said pulling her from her thoughts. She was caught drooling.
Closing her lips she glared at him, how can someone this handsome be soo insane at the same time, she wondered pursing her lips.
"how are we going to get rid of the body" she asked taking one more look at the body already used to how it looked. she could not believe she would ever be an accomplice to murder. having the words come out of her mouth did not feel right at all.
"oh no kitten. There's no 'we' in this equation. I am going to dispose off the body in the forest and you will stay here. while I'm gone do not open the door or window for anyone. I'll be back in exactly an hour. if I come back before an hour passes" Damien pauses, turning to Emilia with a serious look on his face "Do not open the window" Emilia felt her heart sink. for the first time Damien didn't smile at her. Nodding slowly she heaved out a heavy sigh, why did staying inside feel scarier than going into the forest with Damien "can't i just go with...."
"you can't, you'll only slow me down. Just remember what I told you, i'll be back" he said.
picking up the body on the floor, he walked to her window sliding it open. With his leg on the seal, he turned to her with a grin "don't miss me much" saying that he jumped off the window disappearing from her sight into the forest.
Emilia quickly scurried from the corner of her bed closing the window, turning the handle the click sound reassured her it was locked. rushing to the door she twisted the key in the keyhole locking herself inside. Feeling somewhat safe she let out a sigh, turning around she walked to her bed, letting herself fall on it. Looking down to the ground, she notices the knife stained with blood lying close to her leg. she kicked it away towards Camilla's bed.
Emilia wanted to forget Everything that happened this night. she wished she could go back in time to when she received the admission letter and tear it to shreds.
lost in her thoughts she hadn't noticed the sound of a clock ticking. She raised her head her gaze on the ceiling. her peripheral view caught the sight of something familiar on her table turning her face to the table she sees the book from the library.
she frowned getting up from her bed, walking towards the table she stared at the book very sure that she had dropped it on the couch.
gazing intensely at the book she sees the minute hand on the skull move, her brows creased there's no way the drawing on the book just moved. she must be imagining things because of how shaken she felt. accepting that she needed to sleep, she turned away to her bed. It moved again
Whipping her head to the book. she narrowed her eyes, she definitely was not imagining things. The minute hand on the signet did move—anticlockwise.
Stretching out her hands to pick the book, a knock on the door stopped her. turning her head to the door with her hands suspended in air. her heart sank to her stomach. "Emilia it's me Micheal, open the door"
