Chapter 6 - The More You Hate, The More You'll Likely Understand Where They're Coming From Which Makes You Love Them

"Am I just seeing things because I'm hungry or is that an actual freaking giant octopus?!" Caroline asked.

"It's real as it gets, let's run!" Aaliyah said.

The two then began running away from the water and headed towards the middle of the island. Thinking they're safe because the octopus can't reach them, they rested for a while. This didn't last long as what's about to happen shocked them even further. The octopus have a feet and began walking on land!

"Was zur Hölle?!" Caroline shouted in German.

The Octopus is noticeably targeting the remaining food supply. Caroline noticed this and began running towards it to protect it. Using one of its limb, the Octopus tried pushing Caroline out of its way. Before that could happen though, Aaliyah jumped in front of Caroline to protect her. She was then thrown towards a Banana Tree, and was heavily injured afterwards. Stuck in a dilemma, Caroline without any single hesitation, swiftly chose to abandon the foodsupply in order to tend her injured friend.

"Aaliyah, are you okay?!" Caroline said worryingly.

"Don't worry about me please, prioritize the food supply first..." Aaliyah instructed while blood were dripping from her forehead.

"Dummy! The Octopus could take the bananas for all I care, I'm not abandoning my goddamn friend!" Caroline exclaimed.

Aaliyah was shocked to hear this from Caroline, of all people. She began blushing and all of a sudden the blood stopped dripping. She then stood up and wiped the blood from her forehead.

"Good grief Carol, I'm not gonna die yet. Besides, I have a plan"

Aaliyah then began whispering the said plan to Caroline.

"You sure it'll work?" Caroline was doubting.

"It's an old trick from the book but, I'm confident it will" Aaliyah said firmly.

Caroline then ran towards the octopus and threw some rocks to it to get its attention. The giant octopus then turned its head around to see what's happening.

"Hey eight-legged freak! Wait a second, if you have a feet, that doubles the amount right which makes it ten? Let me count: eight, nine, ten- what the hell am I doing? I'm getting distracted when I'm supposed to be the distraction! Anyways, catch me if you can Missgeburt!" Caroline said.

Surprisingly, the giant octopus fell for it as it began chasing Caroline. Caroline is running at her full speed towards the other side of the island, fully trusting Aaliyah's plan.

Enter Flashback Sequence:

"Try to get the octopus' attention and make it follow you. Then run towards to the other side of the island. When you see the two banana leaves on the right, try to double jump. I'll plant some banana peel on the path so make sure you avoid it. Those are for the octopus"

"You know in stories, when they show the character's plan to defeat the main villain, it gets jinxed and usually doesn't work right?"

"Well, power of friendship triumphs everything so there's also that. Quit questioning the plot and just stick with the plan!"

"Oh right, my bad my bad"

Flashback Sequence Ends.

"It better work Aaliyah dammit or else the implication of me getting caught by a tentacle creature will turn this whole thing into something I don't even want to elaborate any further. Damn, I should get paid at least... wait, that's the leaves. Let's go, let's go!"

Caroline finally saw the said banana leaves and went double jumping like she's in a video game. The octopus fell for it! The plan worked! I told you so! (ehem sorry). The giant octopus slipped because of the banana peels and was knocked unconscious.

"Whoooo yeah baby! That's what I've been waiting for, that's what it's all about!" Caroline shouted.

She began celebrating but stopped immediately when she realized Aaliyah is still injured. She then rushes towards her aid.

"Are you okay?" Caroline asked in a worrying tone.

"Yes... Ahh shit, actually no" Aaliyah responded.

Caroline then wrapped Aaliyah's wounds with the banana leaves as first aid. Then she remembered what her German mother said to her as a kid.

"Hey Liyah, I'll take all of the remaining bananas and I want you to eat it all okay? My Mutter said eating in bulk will somehow heal injuries" Caroline suggested.

"But what about your quota? The remaining bananas... is sufficient enough right? Take it all please... You need it Carol because of your condition..." Aaliyah argued.

"I don't care if I'll experience a horrifying pain. I'd rather endure it. I don't want the pain to go away at the expense of my dear friend's life!" Caroline boldly said.

Touched by what her friend said, Aaliyah then began eating the bananas like there's no tomorrow.

"Dummy..."

"Come on, eat more to regain your strength"

It worked. Aaliyah was fully healed after taking all of the bananas in the island. She was then worried about Caroline's situation.

"Thanks Carol. But what about you though? Are you experiencing the knives metaphor now?"

"You were right earlier, we all have a choice. This is how I want things to be" Caroline's mature response.

Having regained full strength, Aaliyah then began examining the unconscious giant octopus. Suddenly, Aaliyah had a light bulb moment.

"You know what Carol, you don't have to suffer any longer" Aaliyah said.

"What do you mean?" a confused Caroline asked.

"I have an idea" Aaliyah said while smirking.

Turns out, Aaliyah ends up turning the giant octopus into some delicious takoyaki. One of her finest specialty, she made a mountain of it using the Octopus' meat.

Alas, Caroline was hungry no more. She finished everything in a matter of under a minute, setting a new world record for most takoyaki eaten (like that record even exists, I'm too lazy to look it up sorry).

"You don't really get fat huh?" an amused Aaliyah said.

"Must be because of my German genes" Caroline said while laying down. She then burped so loud it crossed the entire ocean. Another burp was heard.

"Manners please?" Aaliyah said.

"Hey, that ain't me" Clotilde said.

They realized the second one sounded like a burp but wasn't one in actuality. It was something else... All of a sudden the island began shaking.

"What is happening Liyah?" Caroline panickingly asked.

"I don't know exactly but... Oh shit! The island is sinking" Aaliyah panickingly said.

The island indeed sinked and a giant whirlpool was formed. Hugging each other, Caroline and Aaliyah began sinking to the ocean.

"I don't wanna die yet! I still wanna know the taste of that 150 yr old turtle goddamit" Aaliyah's last words.

"I wish I paid attention in my swimming class! Ach du meine Güte..." Caroline's last words.

Then they were gone...

The German and the Gourmet is no more...

But...

Turns out...

It was all a dream...

As cliche as that sounds, it actually was just a dream. The two found themselves waking up in the classroom. Tyler was in front of them munching some banana chips.

"Oh hey guys, you're finally awake" Tyler said.

"How long have we been out?" Aaliyah asked.

"Almost an hour tops, pretty much" Tyler answered.

"It appears I was in a very very long dream I see..." Aaliyah said.

"Me too, it genuinely felt real..." Caroline followed up.

The two stood up which Tyler quickly acted.

"You're not gonna be duking things out anymore right? Adam-sensei told me to stop y'all by any means necessary if it happens again" Tyler said while in a fighting stance.

Aaliyah just gave a swift chuckle while Caroline smirked as they walked away heading to the restroom together. Tyler was left confused.

"Hey Tyler, what do you think happened to them?" Random NPC Classmate appeared and asked.

"I don't know, beats me" Tyler said nonchalantly.

"Could it be they both had the same dream which was connected by the banana chip you gave them?"

"Don't be ridiculous, as if that shit is possible in this story"

"I don't know, the first three chapters says otherwise"

Later that day during breaktime, Tyler noticed Caroline and Aaliyah became closer since the incident earlier and were sharing some snacks.

"Oh you guys really did made up already huh?" Tyler asked the two while smiling.

The two just nodded. Tyler saw they were snacking Banana Spring Rolls. His monke neurons were activated.

"Can I have some?" Tyler asked while drooling.

"Sure but only take one or else, I'll be forced to bonk you again" Aaliyah threatened while holding a frying pan.

"Make it two" Caroline followed.

Aaliyah was taking a glance at Tyler while he was busy eating.

"I guess I have no use for that notebook anymore..." Aaliyah whispered.

"What were you saying again? I'm sorry I was too busy munching down these tasty dish you made" Tyler said while eating (Don't talk while your mouth is full, don't be like Tyler).

"Nothing special, just thinking out loud"

Tyler then left the scene. Aaliyah was wiping her mouth when Caroline reached something from her bag.

"Look Liyah, I'm sorry about the Michelin sandwich I stole previously. I'll make things right, I want you to have this"

Caroline hands Aaliyah a sandwich.

"I know it's not what you've expected but it's a home sandwich I made. You can have it"

"Aww Carol, how sweet of you. This is worth more than any Michelin sandwich I could ever have. Thank you"

Aaliyah began eating the sandwich.

"What do you think?" Caroline nervously asked.

"Tasty! This sandwich is really good! I'll give it a 5 star" Aaliyah exclaimed.

"Danke, you're not just saying that because you're my friend right?"

"Nope, I'm being serious. Matter fact let me get my phone to do a proper review on this"

Tyler arrived back to the scene just as Aaliyah was finished posting her review.

"Can I also have some? Can you also put some banana toppings on it?" Tyler asked.

"I figured you'd say that and luckily for your primate ass, I got more" Caroline proudly said as she brought out more sandwiches from her bag.

Aaliyah was smiling throughout and joined the other two in eating the sandwhiches. On her Google reviews account, an updated post is shown:

"...just tasted this homemade food. I'm happy to say that this is a 5 star sandwich courtesy of my 5 star friend :)"
