The next morning, Emily wakes up and sees Ryan getting dressed.
"Hey." Emily says, rubbing eyes.
"Hey. Sorry, I didn't want to wake you. You were drooling, it was kinda cute."
Emily chuckles.
"How are you doing?"
Ryan doesn't answer for a moment.
"I'm better. It still hurts, and I still miss her but, I'm ok."
Emily puts her hand on his face and they smile at each other. Ryan grabs her hand, holding it.
"Thank you, for being there last night."
"Any time, Ryan Larusso."
The two share a kiss.
"Well, I gotta go. Are you cool here?"
"Sure. Where are you going?"
"I'm gonna go to the dojo. Talk to sensei about the tournament."
"Ok, well I'll be here waiting for you."
Ryan kisses Emily on the forehead and leaves.
At the dojo, Bill cleans it up a bit. As he does, Ryan shows up at the doorway.
"Wow, this place actually looks clean."
When Bill sees Ryan chuckling, he smiles.
"How are you doing, kid?" Bill asks.
"Better." Ryan answers.
Bill's smile then fades.
"Look, Ryan. I understand how you're feeling, so if you need to cut back on the karate, and quit the tournament, I understand."
Ryan just smiles for a moment.
"You know, my mom told me to take my time and mourn, but I'd have to move on. Well last night, I mourned, and I'm ready to move on. There's still a big part of me that hurts, that misses her and that would give everything to see her again. But, that's not how life works. You have to push through the pain and keep moving forward. I'm ready to move forward, sensei."
Ryan bows as Bill sheds a tear.
"Are you crying, sensei?"
"No, just something in my eye. Alright, if you're going to go through with the tournament, you'll have a lot of catching up to do in your training."
Ryan smiles.
"Wouldn't have it any other way."
