Priscilla didn't answer him with words right away. Instead, she simply pointed a sharp clawed finger directly at her own neck, shaking her head from side to side with an annoyed look on her face.
Because she was a land creature, she couldn't open her mouth to speak without swallowing a massive amount of salty sea water.
Jacob blinked his eyes, realizing his mistake. "Oh, right! My bad," he said quickly. He then glanced over at Persephone, giving her a small, knowing nod.
Persephone understood the signal instantly.
She swam a bit closer to the cat captain, raising her slender hands through the water.
With a gentle flick of her fingers, she conjured a perfect, sphere-shaped water glob that was completely filled with clean, fresh air, placing it securely right around Priscilla's entire head like a magical diving helmet.
Priscilla blinked inside the clear bubble, taking a deep, grateful breath of the fresh oxygen.
