Kael's POV.
Loneliness can become a prison over time that would eat you up slowly and painstakingly. With Elara around, it never felt as bad as it did. There was a connection even when I refused to talk to her. Her presence lifted my mood.
She fought for me, she protected me when she could and in return, I let her get close to me, I told her everything she wanted. That turned out to pull us apart, now everyday I heard people marching to and fro, stomping in and out, but none of them had the rhythm at which she walked with. Her heels clicking on the floor, her shift voice and caring nature, her smitten expression when things went wrong.
None of them had it.
As I sat alone, head resting against the wall of my enclosure, the door clanged open and they wheeled another man inside. He was bulky with a lot of scars on his body inflicted way before he even joined my pack army.
