The beast bone was in the middle of advancing over twenty meters beneath the swamp. Inside the eye sockets of its skull, the core of the cyan ghost fire flickered erratically.
It had clearly made ample preparations, and just moments before, everything had been going smoothly as it tried to fuse its ghost fire core with the life force in the beast bone.
However, the immense life force within the beast bone had locked into a tense stalemate with its ghost fire power. As they consumed one another, it became clear both would be annihilated.
It hadn't absorbed much life force, yet the power within its own ghost fire core was already completely depleted.
A ghost fire was, by its very nature, a fragmented soul. Its ability to exist and advance relied entirely on the abundant Death Energy in this land of silent death, which served as a medium to sustain its existence.
If the life force surpassed the energy within the ghost fire's core, its soul would be consumed along with it.
