The black energy flowed into her ghost fire's core, causing her to freeze mid-motion.
The moment it entered her core, an inexplicable, profound tremor ran through her unformed, incomplete soul fragments, forcing her to stop devouring it.
'Black energy... Devouring it...'
The familiar scene and the familiar energy made her instinctively stop. 'Why does absorbing this black energy make me shudder like this?'
The feeling was so familiar it made her very soul tremble.
The blue ghost fire, however, had no idea why its captor had suddenly stopped. More than half of its own core, along with the black energy it had just awakened, had already been absorbed.
The blue ghost fire flickered and danced within the pair of bony hands holding it. 'My captor seems stunned. If I run now, my chances of success are high.'
It steeled itself and split off a small wisp of its core, leaving the larger part behind in the bony hands.
