Olivia Wynne didn't know what Zachary Fairchild and William Wynne had gone to do, or what had happened between them. When they returned, Zachary's expression was normal, but William was clearly in a bad mood, a heavy air of displeasure hanging about him.
William walked on ahead. Olivia fell back a short distance, keeping pace with Zachary to ask in a low voice, "What's wrong with Uncle?"
"Maybe it's his time of the month," Zachary said with a perfectly straight face.
Olivia was speechless.
She shot Zachary a cold look. "Oh, stop talking nonsense."
A faint smile touched Zachary's eyes as his large hand quietly enveloped Olivia's small one. "Olivia, you just need to focus on me. As for your uncle, he's an adult. He knows what he's doing and can manage his own emotions. It's better if we don't get too involved."
"Mm, I suppose you're right," Olivia answered quietly, quickening her pace to walk forward.
