Being surrounded by so many people just for stepping out to cook made Olivia Wynne feel embarrassed, no matter how composed she usually was. With a gracious smile, she said, "It's getting late. Your chief hasn't eaten yet, so I'm going to deliver his meal. You should all go eat, too."
Olivia Wynne spoke up, trying to get them to leave. The veterans were fine; they knew their chief's temper and obediently left. But some of the rookies, hearing her words, just stood there with cheeky grins, teasing her.
Olivia Wynne offered a few more words with a smile, but when she saw they weren't leaving, she just let them be and quickly walked away herself.
'They don't mean any harm, anyway. A little bit of talk is no big deal.'
Lunch was a generous spread of four dishes and a soup. At the table, William Wynne and the other two ate in silence, no one speaking a word.
