The next morning, Adam woke up to a quiet apartment.
He thought the night had been tense… but nothing could have prepared him for what was about to happen.
As he stepped outside, a black motorcycle roared down the street. Two masked figures jumped off and moved quickly toward him.
Adam's instincts kicked in immediately. He ducked behind a parked car, his heart racing.
"This can't be real," he muttered to himself.
The first man tried to grab him. Adam twisted sharply, pushing him away, and ran toward the café.
Inside, Lina was just arriving, carrying an umbrella. She froze when she saw Adam's expression—panic, fear, and controlled anger all at once.
"Adam? What's wrong?" she asked, stepping closer.
Before he could answer, a window shattered behind them. One of the attackers had thrown a brick.
Adam grabbed Lina's hand. "Run. Now!"
They sprinted through the back alley, rain still dripping from the morning sky.
As they turned a corner, Adam pulled out a small device from his pocket. A silent alarm—it was connected to a private security network he had set up years ago.
Within seconds, the sound of approaching sirens echoed through the streets. The attackers froze, realizing reinforcements were coming.
Adam didn't wait. "We have to get out of the city for now," he said.
Lina followed silently, her eyes wide with fear and curiosity.
For the first time, she truly saw the danger Adam had been hiding all these years.
And Adam knew… this was only the beginning.
The enemies were no longer far away.
They were right on his trail.
