The mysterious woman stepped fully into the dim light of the warehouse. Her high heels clicked softly against the concrete floor.
Adam tightened his grip on the metal pipe. Lina instinctively stepped behind him.
"You can lower that," the woman said calmly. "I'm not your enemy."
"Then why should we trust you?" Adam asked, his voice steady but tense.
The woman smiled faintly. "Because I know who's after you… and I know how to stop them."
Adam's brow furrowed. "Go on."
"My name is Selene," she said. "I work for a private intelligence network. Victor Kane… he's not just a businessman. He's a mastermind. He's spent years planning your downfall. And he won't stop until everything your family built is destroyed."
Lina's eyes widened. "He… he's the one who attacked Adam yesterday?"
Selene nodded. "Yes. And that was just a warning. The real attack is coming soon. You need allies, weapons, information… and time. Something you don't have."
Adam's jaw tightened. "And why come to me now?"
"Because," Selene said, stepping closer, "I believe you're ready. You've been hiding, waiting… but Victor doesn't wait. He's about to make his move. If you don't act, everything is lost."
Lina reached out to Adam's arm. "Adam… we have to listen to her."
Adam looked at Selene carefully. Danger, deception… trust. He had spent years running from it all, but now he had a choice: run again, or face the storm.
He exhaled slowly. "Fine. Tell me everything."
Selene handed him a slim folder. "This has all the information you'll need: locations, names, strategies. But Adam… you must be careful. Kane has eyes everywhere. Even people you think you can trust may be working for him."
Adam opened the folder, scanning the contents. Each page made his heart beat faster—plans, maps, insider contacts… a full web of conspiracy.
"This is bigger than I imagined," he muttered.
Selene placed a hand on his shoulder. "That's why you can't do it alone. And that's why I'm here."
Lina looked between Adam and Selene, concern and curiosity in her eyes. "We'll face it together," she said softly.
Adam nodded. "Together," he agreed.
Outside, the city continued to move on, unaware of the war brewing in its shadows.
And deep inside, Adam knew one thing for certain: the next few days would determine everything—his family, his life, and the woman he was beginning to care about.
The game had begun.
