The moon hung high over the Valerion estate, spilling silver light across the pristine gardens.
The night was quiet, almost painfully so. Crickets chirped faintly, and the distant howl of a wolf echoed from the forest beyond the estate walls.
In the east wing of the mansion, Seraphina's room was dimly lit by a single candle. The flickering flame cast long, dancing shadows on the elegant walls, lined with bookshelves and polished wooden furniture.
Seraphina lay on her bed, fragile form wrapped delicately in a blanket. Her chest rose and fell steadily, the rhythm of sleep soft and even.
She was eleven years old now, yet her mind was sharp beyond her years. Even in dreams, her awareness lingered, like a faint glow behind her closed eyes.
The night was silent, peaceful... until the dream began to shift.
Seraphina opened her eyes-or at least, she felt she had.
The room around her was gone.
In its place was a vast white emptiness, endless and silent. There were no walls, no floor, no ceiling.
The air was thick with stillness, yet somehow breathable. She could feel the faint hum of something... artificial, unlike any dream she had ever had.
Her first instinct was to assess. Is this a trap? A hallucination? Or perhaps a dream my mind has conjured to pass the night?
Nothing responded. She took a cautious step forward. Her small, delicate feet barely made a sound, yet the emptiness seemed to stretch infinitely around her.
And then, the light changed.
A glowing rectangular frame appeared before her, hovering in the void. Within it, words slowly materialized in elegant, luminous script.
SYSTEM MESSAGE
Seraphina's sharp eyes scanned the words immediately, calculating, analyzing. The letters shimmered faintly, like liquid silver.
"Would you like another fate?"
Below the question were two options:
YES NO
Her first reaction was to remain calm, logical. This is a dream. Nothing in dreams can harm me.
Yet something in her mind-a faint vibration, a subtle pressure-told her that this was different.
Scene 3 - Silent Contemplation
Seraphina tilted her head slightly. Her fingers twitched, as if she could press one of the options in reality.
Her analytical mind raced.
Another fate?
Is this... a trick?
If I choose yes, what would happen?
The air around her felt charged, yet still utterly silent. The void held her attention completely, as though waiting.
She closed her eyes for a brief moment, inhaling slowly. A faint shiver ran down her spine, but her expression did not falter.
Opportunity rarely knocks twice. If this is real... I must act carefully.
After a heartbeat-or perhaps several-she opened her eyes again.
Calmly, deliberately, she lifted a hand. Her delicate finger hovered over the luminous "YES" option.
Her mind whispered a quiet rationalization:
"If this is meaningless... then nothing will change. If it is meaningful... I take control."
And with that, she pressed YES.
Scene 4 - System Activation
The void reacted immediately.
A wave of strange energy rippled through the endless white space, vibrating softly against her consciousness. Words appeared again:
Processing...
Soul interference detected.
Seraphina blinked, a flash of curiosity sparking in her sharp eyes.
Interference?
The sensation was unusual-faint, but distinct. She could feel it brushing against her mind, almost like a whisper.
Somewhere else, far beyond her awareness, a girl's consciousness stirred violently.
Hana.
She felt a sudden jolt, dizziness, a tug at the very core of her being. But Seraphina, unaware of the stranger yet, simply sensed the subtle tremor in the void.
The system flickered before her eyes. Text scrolled faster this time, incomprehensible codes and numbers whirling like a storm.
Error: New consciousness detected
Her calm mind analyzed it. Something-or someone-has entered my world.
A faint thrill ran through her. This was... unprecedented.
The white void dissolved as suddenly as it appeared.
Seraphina awoke in her bed, back in her familiar room. Candlelight flickered across the walls. The moonlight spilled through the tall window, casting silver patterns on the floor.
Her body felt exactly the same. Her chest rose and fell normally. Everything seemed... ordinary.
And yet, something was off.
A subtle feeling lingered in her mind. Like a shadow. Like someone was... close. Watching. Present.
She sat up carefully, wrapping the blanket around herself. Her sharp eyes scanned the room, taking in every detail, though the room was empty.
"What a strange dream," she whispered.
The wind rustled softly outside. The mansion was still, peaceful. The night continued as though nothing had happened.
But somewhere-quiet, unseen, untouched by human perception-a tiny disturbance had begun.
A story once perfectly scripted now had a small error.
A spark.
And the fate of Seraphina was no longer entirely her own.
