Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Red-Hot Betrayal

Chapter 2: The Red-Hot Betrayal

The morning mist clung to the jagged cliffs of Uzushiogakure like a funeral shroud. For Rimon, the humid salt air usually felt like a warm blanket, but today it felt heavy—thick with the scent of a storm that had nothing to do with the weather.

He stood on the balcony of the Great Clan Hall, his crimson hair whipping in the wind. Beside him, the Clan Head, Ashina Uzumaki, looked like a mountain that had begun to crumble. The old man's back was straight, but his hands—scarred by a thousand sealing brushes—were trembling slightly as he watched the two figures leaping across the sea-stacks toward the village gates.

"They come as family, Rimon," Ashina murmured, his voice raspy. "The Senju and the Uzumaki... we are two sides of the same coin. Hashirama-sama's legacy is our shield."

Rimon leaned against the stone railing, his obsidian eyes half-lidded, boring into the approaching figures. "A shield is only good if the man holding it wants to protect you, Old Man. Hiruzen Sarutobi isn't Hashirama. He's a gardener who prunes 'unnecessary' branches to keep his tree alive."

Ashina sighed, a sound of deep weariness. "You are too cynical for a boy of thirteen."

"And you're too hopeful for a man of eighty," Rimon retorted, though his voice lacked its usual bite. He liked the Old Man. He didn't want to see him broken.

The Arrival

The gates groaned open. Two figures landed with the practiced grace of elite shinobi.

Tsunade Senju looked exactly as Rimon remembered from the anime—vibrant, golden-haired, and radiating a raw, tempered power that made the air hum. Beside her was a boy no older than Rimon, with a mischievous grin and a forehead protector tied proudly over his head: Nawaki.

"Gramps Ashina!" Nawaki shouted, waving frantically. "We made it! Man, the whirlpools were crazy today!"

Tsunade stepped forward, her expression a mix of genuine warmth and a strange, flickering hesitation that Rimon's Kagura's Mind's Eye caught instantly.

"Ashina-sama," she said, bowing respectfully. "Konoha sends its greetings. And its... requests."

Rimon watched from the shadows of the balcony as they were led into the Council Chamber. He didn't follow immediately. Instead, he pulled up his mental HUD.

Rimon's jaw tightened. Danzo's dogs. They didn't even trust Tsunade to handle the 'diplomacy' alone.

The Council of Shadows

Inside the hall, the atmosphere was suffocating. The Uzumaki Elders sat in a semi-circle, their red hair glowing like embers in the torchlight.

Tsunade stood in the center, unrolling a scroll signed with the Third Hokage's seal. "Mito-sama is... weakening," she began, her voice cracking slightly. "The Nine-Tails requires a stable vessel. Konoha believes that for the safety of the Great Nations, and for her own protection, Kushina Uzumaki should be moved to the Leaf immediately."

An Elder leaned forward. "And the reinforcements we requested? The Mist and Cloud are circling our borders like sharks, Tsunade-hime."

Tsunade looked pained. "The Hokage says... that once Kushina is safe, he will send a battalion to secure the Whirlpool borders. But she must come first. For her safety."

"Safety?"

The voice cut through the room like a jagged kunai. All heads turned to the back of the hall.

Rimon walked forward, his hands in his pockets, looking as lazy and bored as ever. "You mean 'Secured,' right? Like a prisoner in a gold-plated cage. Tell me, Tsunade-nee, does Hiruzen plan to let her see the sun, or will she be buried in the same basement Mito-sama has lived in for thirty years?"

"Rimon! Mind your tongue!" Ashina barked, though there was no heart in it.

Tsunade's eyes flashed with anger, but beneath it, Rimon saw the guilt. "It's for the balance of power, Rimon! If the Nine-Tails falls into the wrong hands—"

"It already has," Rimon interrupted, stopping right in front of her. "It's in the hands of a village that waits for its 'allies' to be pushed to the brink so they can buy their loyalty with crumbs. You say you'll send a battalion after you take our kin? That's not an alliance. That's a ransom."

Nawaki looked confused, glancing between his sister and his friend. "Rimon, what are you saying? We're family! Konoha wouldn't—"

"Nawaki," Rimon said softly, his eyes softening for a brief second. "Look at your sister's shadow."

The Break

Before Tsunade could react, Rimon's hand blurred.

[Space-Time: Hiraishin - Basic Tier]

In a flash of red sparks, Rimon vanished. He reappeared behind Tsunade, his hand coated in a shimmering, dark sheen—Busoshoku Haki. He slammed his fist into the floorboards where the shadow was unnaturally thick.

CRACK!

The wood splintered. Two masked shinobi in grey flak jackets erupted from the floor, their blades already drawn. Root.

"Assassins in the Council Hall?" Rimon roared, his voice no longer lazy, but thunderous.

The Elders jumped to their feet. The Root agents didn't speak; they moved to strike Rimon.

"Enough!"

Rimon didn't move. He didn't draw a weapon. He simply let go of the leash on his spirit.

[Haoshoku Haki (Conqueror's) - Level: Basic]

A wave of invisible, crushing pressure exploded from Rimon. The air turned heavy, as if the ocean itself had crashed into the room. The two Root agents froze, their eyes rolling back into their heads as they collapsed like puppets with their strings cut.

Even Tsunade staggered, her knees buckling under the weight of the raw, kingly will radiating from the thirteen-year-old boy.

Rimon stood over the unconscious spies, his red hair glowing like a halo of blood. He looked at Ashina, then at the shocked Elders.

"Konoha is not our ally," Rimon declared, his voice echoing in the sudden silence. "They are vultures waiting for us to die so they can pick our bones. I refuse the transfer. I refuse the 'request.' And from this moment on... Uzushiogakure stands alone."

Rimon turned back to Tsunade, who was staring at him in pure shock.

"Go back, Tsunade. Tell the Professor that the Whirlpool doesn't take orders from the Leaf anymore. And tell Danzo... if he sends any more rats into my house, I'll send them back in boxes."
