(JASPER'S POV)
For the first time since we'd met, Blue looked genuinely taken aback. His eyes widened slightly before his jaw tightened, and I could practically see him forcing himself to remain calm.
Beside him, his mate stared at me in surprise. The red-haired vampire looked equally stunned, as though he'd never expected anyone to speak to Blue that way.
I didn't care.
If anything, I was angry that I couldn't say more.
But there was no point wasting time arguing when the memory was already waiting for us. Whatever Vera had been doing in that house, I intended to find out.
I drew a slow breath and shook my head.
"Just watch," I muttered. "It's getting to the point."
As if responding to my words, the glowing pane flickered.
The images blurred, then sharpened again. The peaceful living scene carried on, and the memory continued unfolding before us.
This time, I wasn't going to miss a single thing.
