"We're going after them."
I didn't wait for answers. I stretched my hand and with little effort, I made a tear in reality and opened a door to the demon realm.
Through the tear I could smell home the way you smell a house you grew up in and hated: Ash. Iron. Warm stone. And something buried beneath it all, something ancient and rotten that I had never found the right words to describe.
The demon realm.
My birthplace. My least favourite place in all existence.
I took one step toward the opening, ready to drag every demon that had taken Gilbert straight into the depths of misery.
But then, I stopped.
Because nobody moved.
They were all staring at me as if I had suddenly grown another head. Blue looked ready to tear something apart, his mate stood close beside him, and the others watched me with varying degrees of suspicion.
Ethan stood half a step behind Blue and Mason, his expression hard and unreadable.
