Apparently, her body had finally decided it had had enough.
She hurried back into the room and glanced at the clock again.
She had slept straight through the alarm.
Lina sighed.
At least today was supposed to be a day of rest.
She quickly changed her clothes and returned to the hallway.
When she stepped out, David had just finished showering and was leaving his room.
He paused when he saw Lina and Lucien together.
"Morning."
"Breakfast is ready," Lucien told him. "You can head downstairs."
David nodded.
He gave Lina a brief look but didn't ask anything. He simply headed down the stairs.
Lina instinctively followed.
She had barely taken two steps when Lucien spoke.
"Put your shoes on first."
Lina stopped.
She looked down.
She was still barefoot.
For a moment, she simply stared at her feet.
She had completely forgotten.
"I forgot."
She turned around and went back into her room.
Lucien remained in the hallway.
