"Please come in, Count Vissan."
Lina sat back in her chair and spoke calmly, having already guessed why the count had come to see her. Sure enough, after bowing and offering his usual morning greeting, he got straight to the point. He behaved as though he knew nothing about her unpleasant encounter with the Duke of Anjou the previous evening, and Lina was perfectly willing to pretend the same. There was little to be gained from bringing up a conversation she would rather forget, especially when she still had no clear idea how much the count knew about the duke's intentions.
"Did Your Highness rest well last night?" Count Vissan asked. "If you have no objections, I intend to depart with Your Highness today. Provided the journey goes smoothly, we should reach Tours before nightfall."
"Of course I have no objections. In fact, I would prefer to leave as soon as possible."
