After a journey filled with both apprehension and anticipation, Lina finally arrived at Tours, the capital where she was expected to inherit the throne. Fortunately, nothing particularly disastrous happened along the way. Count Vissan continued to accompany the procession, and although Lina remained cautious around him after their earlier confrontation, he made no further attempts to interfere in her personal affairs.
She had imagined that the arrival of the future queen would be accompanied by a grand reception. Perhaps the streets would be decorated with flowers and banners, the nobles would gather to welcome her, and crowds of citizens would line the roads to cheer as her carriage passed through the city gates. After all, she was the last surviving child of the late emperor and the person who would eventually inherit his title. Surely such an important occasion deserved some celebration.
Instead, the procession entered Tours almost quietly.
