Jay's POV:
It's my last month of pregnancy. Ever since I came to this house after getting married, they have all treated me so kindly.
Keifer doesn't let me do anything, not even touch a glass of water.
Kegain is always around me. If Keifer isn't at home, he fulfills all my cravings. He always brings me whatever I ask for.
Kerein is different from them. Every night, he comes to my room and talks to the baby, and when the baby kicks, he cheers as if he has won the lottery.
I caress my baby bump while sitting on the couch.
Keifer is working on his laptop. He hasn't gone to the office for the last month and has been doing all his work from home.
"Keifer," I say. He looks at me and nods.
"I want pasta, but I want ice cream too. I don't know what to do," I say, tears filling my eyes.
"Oh, baby, don't cry. I know it's a very tough choice, especially for you. Hmm, I think you should eat pasta first and then have ice cream," he says.
I shake my head. "I want ice cream first."
He sighs and nods.
He gives me a very small serving of ice cream.
"Huh, that's it?" I ask.
He nods. "You're in your last month. We can't take any risks."
I pout.
After finishing my ice cream, I am about to get up to put the bowl in the sink when Kegain appears.
"Give it to me," he says, taking the bowl and putting it in the sink.
"Ate, it's your exercise time. Get ready," he says.
I pout but nod.
He helps me stand up, holding my hands.
"Now do what I'm doing," he says.
I nod and begin copying him.
He always does this. He learned the exercises pregnant women do and always makes me do them.
After fifteen minutes, I feel very tired, so I sit down on the couch.
"Jay, baby, get ready. Today is your weekly checkup, and the doctor said that if necessary, they will admit you," Keifer says.
I feel nervous but nod.
Keifer helps me change my clothes, and we get into the car.
Kegain and Kerein come with us.
When we reach the doctor's office, she examines me as usual.
After the checkup, we are waiting for the results when a nurse walks in and hands a report to the doctor.
Her expression suddenly turns serious.
"I think we should admit you. The baby could come at any time," she says.
Keifer and I look at each other.
"Is everything okay?" Keifer asks.
The doctor smiles and nods. "Yes. It's just that her time is near."
She personally prepares a room for me at Keifer's request.
Kerein and Kegain arrange the bag they brought with them.
"Thank God, Ate, we brought your clothes," Kegain says.
I nod.
"Ate, when will the baby come?" Kerein asks.
"Soon," I reply.
Just then, Keifer enters after signing the documents.
"Are you okay? Are you hungry?" he asks.
I shake my head.
"Kerein and Kegain, you two should go. I talked to Honey, and she'll stay with both of you for a few days," Keifer says.
"Okay, Kuya, but we'll come regularly to visit Ate," Kegain says.
I nod.
I caress Kerein's hair.
"Baby, take care of yourself and do your homework on time," I tell him.
He nods and kisses my cheeks, then my stomach.
"Come soon. We'll play together," Kerein says.
We chuckle just as a nurse enters.
She attaches the IV drip.
"Sir," our driver says as he enters.
Kerein and Kegain say goodbye to us and leave with the driver.
"Keif, I'm so nervous," I say.
"I'm here with you, baby," he replies.
I nod.
I lie down and fall asleep as Keifer caresses my hair.
I wake up in the evening and feel a slight pain in my stomach.
"Babe, are you okay? You look pale," Keifer says.
I nod. "Yeah, but it hurts a little."
Keifer's eyes widen. He presses the emergency button again and again.
A few doctors and nurses rush into the room.
"What happened?" they ask.
Just then, the baby kicks, and the pain becomes stronger.
"Ahh!" I scream as a few nurses come toward me.
I look down and see that my water has broken. My stomach starts hurting so much.
"Ahhh… Keifer!" I scream.
The doctors and nurses quickly take me to the labor room.
The whole time, Keifer holds my hand tightly.
"I'm with you. I'm with you. Nothing is going to happen to you," he whispers, kissing my forehead again and again.
"Okay, Mrs., when we tell you to push, you have to push, okay?" the doctor says.
I nod as another wave of pain hits me.
I screamed so hard, and then the doctor told me to push.
I tried. I was really tired, but I couldn't do it. It felt as though all my strength was gone.
Keifer tightened his grip on my hand.
"I'm here. I'm here. Just push, Jay. Our miracle is coming," he said, kissing my forehead.
I closed my eyes for a second, then opened them again and pushed two or three times.
Then I heard a tiny cry. I felt so tired, but all of that faded away when I heard it.
"Congratulations—it's a baby girl," the doctor said.
I smiled through my tears.
Keifer smiled through his tears as well.
The nurse cleaned the baby and handed her to me.
She was so tiny, wrapped in a soft white blanket.
I held her against my chest and let my tears fall.
I had become a mother. I couldn't explain the feeling.
"May I?" Keifer asked, his hands trembling.
I nodded and handed her to him.
He looked at her, and a tear fell from his eye. He touched her cheek, and she moved a little.
Keifer simply stared at her, as if he had forgotten everything around him.
After a few minutes, I fed the baby, and it was the best feeling in the world.
After feeding her, I laid her down in her crib.
"Let me inform everyone," Keifer said.
I nodded.
He stepped out to make a call.
A few minutes later, he came back.
"At first, they were mad that I didn't tell them, but when I explained the situation, they understood. They're coming, and Kerein and Kegain are coming too. Kerein is so happy," he said.
I smiled through my tears, and within ten minutes, my room burst open.
"Jay!" Dad exclaimed as he entered, stopping in his tracks when he saw the baby.
He covered his mouth.
"Oh my God… I'm having déjà vu from the day you were born," Dad said.
I let out a small laugh.
He and Mom came over, held the baby, and kissed my head.
Dad hugged me and touched the baby's cheek.
Then my Kuya Angelo and Aries came in. They patted my head, and Kuya held the baby.
The baby kicked his hand.
"Is she rejecting me or accepting me?" he asked.
"Maybe she's rejecting you. Give her to me," Aries said.
The baby kicked Aries too.
We all laughed as the door burst open and Kerein and Kegain rushed in.
They looked at the baby and stopped mid-step.
Then they slowly walked toward us.
"Ate, are you okay?" Kegain asked.
I nodded.
"I want to hold her," Kerein said, sitting down on the couch.
Aries carefully placed the baby in Kerein's arms.
As soon as the baby was in his arms, she smiled a little, as if she knew him.
"She smiled! She smiled!" he said.
"She knows you," I told him.
He smiled even wider and kissed her cheek.
Then the rest of Section E arrived and created chaos. After Keifer threatened them, they formed a long line just to hold the baby.
One by one, they each took a turn holding her.
"I don't want to leave her. She's so cute," Yuri said, hugging her against his chest.
"She already has more than sixteen protectors," David said.
They all nodded.
I laughed. Keifer and I looked at each other, and he held my hand.
I rested my head on his shoulder.
A few years ago, we were best friends, and now we were parents. I had never imagined this.
From strangers, to best friends, to husband and wife, and now parents.
It wasn't easy for us, but we handled it.
We trusted each other and stayed connected even when I left for New York.
As I was thinking, one person made a dramatic entrance.
"Babyyy sistahhh!" Percy shouted as he rushed into the room.
He didn't look at the baby at first. Instead, he checked on me and hugged me.
"Congratulations, and thank you for making me a handsome uncle," he said.
I hugged him back.
Then he held the baby and kissed her head.
"Hi, I'm your handsome Tito," Percy said.
The baby immediately started crying.
We all looked at Percy and burst into laughter.
