Chapter 21 - Are Those..... Human Eyes?

Thalia's POV

Paula left me at the doors to Kade's chambers, and stood there for a couple of seconds before turning and start to make her way back the way we had walked.

"Are you not going to make sure that I walk into the room?" I asked her as she was getting far.

Stopping, she turned and answered me,

"We both know what will happen if you don't walk into that room.

I'll be killed and you.... perhaps locked in the dungeons."

I hated the fact that she was right.

And she even went ahead to remind me a very crucial information.

"Don't forget, he gave me the green light to have you locked in the dungeons.

Now, do you really need me to have to walk down those endless halls, call the guards to come and drag you to the dungeons?

Or, will you just let this night end on a good note?"

I had spent countless nights locked in the dungeons of the Shadowmoon Pack whenever I was defiant against Alpha Ronan.

Saying that with time, I had gotten used to it would be a plain lie.

No matter how many times I found myself lying on that cold and hard floor, with no food, drinks or even light, I could never get used to it.

In fact, everytime that it happened, I felt like a part of me was consistently broken off.

It was like I was experiencing it for the first time, again and again, and again.

I couldn't start my stay in the Obsidian Howl Pack as the Luna, and spend the night in the dungeons.

I didn't forget the couple of times that I heard people talking about how they knew someone that was locked up by Alpha Kade Prime, and how they were not the same person if they survived and were released.

The dungeons of the Obsidian Howl Pack had come to become the literal pits of hell in my imagination.

So, as I slowly shook my head, Paula even commented,

"Wise choice."

And with that, she turned around and walked away.

I realized that I was left alone, with no one to look over me.

The option of making a run for it was again off the table. I was sure that I would even get lost around the huge castle if I tried to find my way to the entrance.

So, for about a solid minute, I stared at the two huge doors that were in front of me, with the handles half my height at the centre.

It was painted white in color, just like the corridor that led to the doors.

Along the edges, there were streaks of what looked like golden flames, starting small at the edges, and becoming bigger as it approached the centre.

Next to each door by the wall, were two huge bear heads, mounted high up on the wall.

And right at the center, was the Pack's insignia.

It was a wolf standing at the peak of a mountain, with the full moon behind it.

Taking in a deep breathe, I reached forward and grabbed both of the door handles, getting ready to push them open.

I expected it to be hard, given the size of the doors that stood nearly eight feet in hight and five feet in width, each.

However, the moment I pushed the doors open, I immediately let go as I felt a tug making me startled.

It took me a moment to realize that the doors were automated, and all it took was just a slight push of the doors and they would open wide.

"Well that's some bougie shit." I commented as I stepped into the room.

The sight that was before me, was nothing short of breathtaking.

I couldn't believe my eyes.

Just when I thought that I couldn't be surprised by anything, I had literally walked through doors that took me into another world.

Literally.

I was literally speechless as I walked into what looked like a fantasy bedroom from the depths of my Pinterest board.

"Oh my...." I didn't get the chance to finish that statement.

As I was scanning through the room with my eyes, admiring everything that I was seeing, from the enormous bed that had literal pillars on all four corners, to an actual sauna that was in the corner of the room, I saw something move.

Yes.

Something moved and it froze me dead in my tracks.

Whatever had moved, stopped immediately.

It's as if it noticed me as well and was caught offguard, stopping in it's tracks as well.

'Perhaps he has something like a pet in here. Look at this place. It's huge.' I said to myself, trying to convince myself that there was nothing to worry about.

However, my gut feeling was there and it was telling me to stay hyper and watch out for anything.

I didn't need to ask twice, as I was already on the lookout.

Starting from where my eyes had stopped as I was scanning, I started going back, inch by inch, trying to see if I could either catch the movement again, or the culprit.

My eyes were peeled, waiting for either the fastest movement, or the slightest.

I was making sure that nothing is overlooked.

When I was halfway through the scanning, I started to question myself.

'Have I really seen something moving, or did I just assume it because I'm paranoid?'

It wasn't a bad thing to do, but I also quickly realized that I was slowly starting to gaslight myself into thinking that my paranoia is what made me think that I saw something move.

And to make matters worse, my already scared self was so willing to go with that reasoning because it gave me a drama free conclusion.

On top of this, the more that I wasn't finding anything as I scanned through the room, was making me think more that I had probably hallucinated that shit.

However, just as I was starting to get comfortable and relax, with the one reasoning about paranoia starting to look more logical, I felt like something wasn't right.

I stopped and froze for a couple of seconds, trying to figure out what was the issue.

I had stopped focusing on where I was looking for a while that I realized that I was slowly zoning out.

Shaking my head and snapping back to reality, I must've refreshed my sight and how I had seen the last place that I was looking.

Something about there seemed off.

It was taking me longer than I would like to admit to realize what I was staring at, didn't seem to fit in the room.

I was looking at what seemed to be a couch that was halfway on the ground and I guess halfway under the ground.

My best description of what the interior designer was going for was a round couch that was partially buried underground.

Almost the same way that a swimming pool is made.

However,that was not it.

The couch itself looked just fine where it was. The thing that didn't make sense to me was the blanket and the pillow that were on the couch.

From the little that wasn't covered by the blanket, I could tell that the couch was dark brown in color.

However, the blanket and pillows that were on the couch were also dark brown in color, but had huge cow faces printed on them.

The faces were of different colors and shades.

And as I looked around the room again, I took note that nowhere in the color scheme of the room, had Kade gone for any printings of anything.

The beddings on the bed were grey in color, the curtains were black in color....

In short, I'd describe the color scheme that Kade had gone for his chambers to be that of neutral colors.

So, seeing something with cow faces on it, didn't quite fit in.

This made me wonder,

'What the hell is this kind of blanket doing in Kade's room?'

I traced it from the bottom, all the way to the top, and as I was getting there, the feeling that something was off was getting stronger.

I froze.

And realized that I was looking right at it.

The discrepancy.

Or should I say....I was looking right at the person.

Yeah.

Just where the pillow was, I realized that I was seeing about half of one of the cow's faces.

And that was because it was covered by what looked like another face.

But, it wasn't a cow's face.

It wasn't a human face either, because that would mean that their skin would be green in color.

It wasn't a human face nor was it a cow's face, but it was still a face.

And what rocked me even more was when I looked at its eyes and realized that they had been open the entire time, and they were locked on to me.

Since it wasn't a cow's face and neither was it a human's face, I had one question,

'Why the hell do those eyes look like human eyes?'
