Chapter 10 - Part9:The Battle of Watatsumi Island

Sea Tragedy: The Fall of the Coral Palace

In a distant otherworld, Yuan Shao, the mighty warlord who dominated the north, heard of the wealth and mystery of Watatsumi Island in Inazuma. Ambition blazed inside him like an unquenchable fire. He gathered his most elite troops and marched mightily toward Watatsumi Island, determined to seize the beautiful isle as his own.

Watatsumi Island was a pure land surrounded by deep blue waters, its Coral Palace glowing enchantingly in the sunlight. It was ruled by Sangonomiya Kokomi, who possessed not only breathtaking beauty but also extraordinary wisdom and leadership, earning the deep love of her people.

As Yuan Shao's warships came into view, Kokomi knew a cruel war was at hand. She quickly summoned the warriors of Watatsumi, prepared their defenses, and readied to face the enemy.

Yuan Shao stood at the bow, gazing at Watatsumi Island with a cold smirk.

"Tiny Watatsumi — this day shall be your end!"

At his command, his army surged toward the island like a tidal wave.

Though greatly outnumbered, the warriors of Watatsumi feared nothing. Fueled by love for their homeland and unshakable faith, they fought with stubborn resolve. Clad in armor and wielding her staff, Kokomi led the battle personally. Every order she gave was precise and decisive, turning back Yuan Shao's assaults time and again.

Yet Yuan Shao's forces were overwhelmingly powerful. After suffering heavy losses, they finally broke through Watatsumi's defenses and closed in on the Coral Palace.

Kokomi's heart tightened with anxiety. She knew the palace was the island's last line of defense; if it fell, Watatsumi would be lost. She resolved to lead her elite warriors to the palace and fight Yuan Shao to the death.

Before the Coral Palace, a brutal battle erupted. Blades flashed, blood stained the earth. Kokomi swung her staff, unleashing tremendous power in an effort to hold back the enemy. But wave after wave of Yuan Shao's troops crashed against her like a stormy sea, and she began to tire.

At that moment, Yuan Shao laid eyes on Kokomi, and greed flashed in his gaze. He personally led a squadron of elite cavalry and charged straight for her. Unflinching, she met him head‑on.

A breathtaking duel unfolded between them. Yuan Shao wielded his spear with fierce, brute strength; Kokomi countered with agile movements and exquisite sorcery. For a time, neither could gain the upper hand.

But Yuan Shao was a seasoned veteran of countless battles. He spotted a faint opening in her stance and thrust his spear forward. Kokomi could not dodge in time — the spear pierced her chest.

She fell slowly to the ground, her eyes filled with unwillingness and sorrow.

When the warriors of Watatsumi saw their leader fall, their morale shattered, and despair swept over them.

Yuan Shao's army seized the moment and launched their final attack, capturing the Coral Palace in one swift strike.

Watatsumi Island was fully conquered. The once‑glorious Coral Palace now lay in ruins.

Yuan Shao stood atop the highest point of the palace, overlooking the land he had conquered, his heart swelling with triumph.

But he did not know this victory would bring him more than expanded territory — it would bring endless hatred and resistance.

The people of Watatsumi did not submit to his rule. In secret, they gathered their strength, waiting for a chance to take revenge.

And Kokomi's sacrifice became an eternal pain in their hearts, driving them to keep fighting for freedom and dignity…
