Chapter 11 - Part10:The Battle of Tsurumi

Shadow over Tsurumi: Yuan Shu's Intrusion

In a strange and turbulent world, Yuan Shu—a bold, arrogant warlord consumed by ambition—heard of the mystery and uniqueness of Tsurumi Island in Inazuma. It was said that rare treasures lay hidden there, and untold mystical powers waited to be unearthed. Greed grew wildly in his heart like weeds, and he immediately resolved to lead his army across the ocean and march on Tsurumi.

Tsurumi was an island shrouded in mist, ancient and quiet. Its inhabitants had guarded the land for generations, upholding old traditions and living in harmony with its mysterious forces. Yet this peaceful life was about to be utterly shattered by Yuan Shu's arrival.

Yuan Shu stood at the bow of his massive warship, the sea wind tearing at his flamboyant robes. Greed glinted in his eyes as he watched the outline of Tsurumi draw near. A cold, confident smirk curled on his lips.

"This island will soon be mine."

As the warships docked, Yuan Shu's army flooded onto the shore. The islanders stared in terror at these uninvited intruders. They grabbed crude weapons, trying to defend their homes—but against Yuan Shu's disciplined, well-equipped army, their resistance was pitifully weak.

Hanyu, an elder and the island's leader, hastily gathered the island's warriors. His expression grave, he declared:

"These invaders mean us harm. Our strength is small, but we will fight with all we have to protect our home!"

The warriors nodded, resolve burning in their eyes.

Battle erupted at once. Yuan Shu's soldiers brandished long blades, their war cries shaking the heavens as they charged toward the village. The islanders stood their ground, fighting fiercely. Hanyu nocked arrows, each shot finding its mark with precision—but against the overwhelming enemy host, his efforts were little more than a drop in the bucket.

Yuan Shu sat aboard his chariot, surveying the battlefield with triumphant laughter.

"Fools! Dare you resist me? Slay them all!"

His army attacked with even greater ferocity. Smoke filled Tsurumi's skies, and blood stained the grass.

Just as the islanders began to falter, a young girl named Chiyo stepped forward. She was the island's shrine maiden, able to commune with its mystical powers. Closing her eyes, she chanted softly, seeking to call upon Tsurumi's power to repel the invaders.

Thick mist suddenly rose across the sky, and strange, eerie sounds echoed within it. Yuan Shu's soldiers panicked, losing their way and colliding into one another. Enraged, Yuan Shu shouted at his men, struggling to restore order.

"Calm yourselves! These are nothing but cheap tricks!"

Drawing his sword, he personally led his elite troops into the heart of the mist.

Chiyo felt Yuan Shu closing in. Sweat beaded her forehead; sustaining the mystical power drained her terribly. Yet she gritted her teeth and held on.

But Yuan Shu's army was far too powerful. Relying on their numbers and might, they slowly broke through the mist and stood before Chiyo.

"Little girl, what else can you do?" Yuan Shu snarled, raising his sword to strike her down.

In that desperate moment, Hanyu threw himself in front of Chiyo, taking the blow. He collapsed before her eyes.

"Grandfather!"

Chiyo's grief shattered her control. A violent surge of energy swept across the battlefield.

Still, Yuan Shu pressed on, ordering a full assault. In the end, Tsurumi's defenses collapsed completely. The islanders suffered heavy casualties, and Yuan Shu seized control of the island.

Standing atop Tsurumi's highest peak, Yuan Shu gazed at the land he had conquered, filled with pride.

What he did not know was that Tsurumi's mystical power was never truly his to command. The curse of this land—and the seeds of resistance—had already been quietly sown in the dark, waiting for the moment to rise again.
