I didn't tell Hades about the message. I hated that I was keeping something from him but every time I remembered the words written across the page, my stomach twisted.
Your mother hid you from the wolves for a reason.
And then—
Now they know where you are.
I had no idea what either message meant but there was only one thing I was sure of. I wasn't ready to tell Hades at least not yet. I slipped the strange book beneath my mattress and stared at it for a long moment before pulling the blanket over it.
Maybe I was being foolish and letting fear get into my head. Something inside me kept whispering that I should be careful. I barely had time to think about it before there was a knock on my door. I froze.
"Iris?"
It was Hades. I quickly straightened my dress.
"Come in."
