Chapter 88 - A blessing

Jay POV:

It had been two months since I started visiting Keifer every single day.

I would always come and sit beside him, talking nonstop about everything and anything while he simply lay there with his eyes closed.

Sometimes I wondered if he could hear me.

But I still talked.

Because somehow, talking to him made me feel like he was still with me.

It was my last month of pregnancy.

Keifer and I had already imagined our delivery day so many times.

We had talked about what our baby would look like, who she would resemble, and how Keifer would react when he finally held her.

But we never expected things to happen like this.

Since I was entering my last month and the baby could arrive anytime, the doctor suggested that I get admitted to the hospital.

I was scared.

No...

I was terrified.

I didn't think I could go through this without my Keif.

I argued with the doctor.

Then I argued with Kuya.

And after a lot of arguing, they finally agreed to let me stay in Keifer's room. They arranged another bed for me so I could stay beside him.

That afternoon, I was lying on my bed with my eyes closed when I suddenly felt like someone had opened the door.

I slowly opened my eyes and peeked toward the door.

A masked man was standing there.

Before I could understand what was happening, he walked toward Keifer and dropped something into his IV.

My eyes widened.

"Who are you?!" I shouted and immediately pressed the emergency bell.

The masked men run away

Within seconds, the doctor rushed inside with Kuya.

"What happened, Jay?" Kuya asked in panic.

"Kuyaaa... someone came inside and did something to Keif!" I said, my voice shaking.

The doctor immediately rushed toward Keifer.

"Oh no..." he whispered.

Everyone froze.

"His condition is getting worse. We don't think we'll be able to save him. Please, everyone, go outside."

The nurses rushed inside and helped me out of the room.

My tears started falling.

A nurse came out a few moments later.

"His condition is becoming critical. Please pray for him."

She quickly went back inside.

We all just sat there, completely frozen.

I couldn't stop crying.

"Please, God... help us. Please save my Keif..." I whispered through my tears.

Suddenly—

A sharp pain hit my stomach.

"Ahhhhh!"

Kuya immediately rushed toward me.

"Jay!"

"Nurse!" he shouted.

A few nurses came running toward me and immediately rushed me toward the labour room.

"Ahhhhh!" I screamed again, gripping the bedsheets tightly.

"Come on, Jay. You can do this. Push!" the doctor instructed.

"I can't... Keif!" I cried.

"One more time! Push!"

I closed my eyes and pushed with all my strength.

And then—

"WAAAHHHHH!"

A tiny crying voice filled the entire room.

I froze.

"A baby girl," the doctor announced with a smile.

"Girl..." I whispered, tears filling my eyes.

They gently placed the baby on my chest.

I looked down at her.

She was tiny, red from crying, and somehow...

She looked so much like Keifer.

I chuckled softly through my tears.

"Please... check on Keifer," I whispered.

The nurse nodded and then carefully handed my daughter back to me.

I looked down at her again.

Then I noticed something.

"Doctor... why isn't she opening her eyes?"

"She will when she wants to," the doctor said with a small smile.

"Already bossy, huh?" I whispered, smiling.

I kissed her tiny cheeks.

She suddenly wrapped her tiny fingers around mine.

My heart melted.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

The nurse entered.

"Mr. Watson is stable now. It seems like your daughter came as a blessing for him. But we still can't say when he will wake up."

I let out a huge sigh of relief.

"I want to see him."

"But Jay, you're not in a condition to—"

"Please, doctor. He's the father of my baby," I pleaded.

The doctor finally sighed and nodded.

"Alright. But only for a short time."

A nurse brought a wheelchair for me.

They helped me sit down and carefully placed my daughter in my arms.

I held her close as they wheeled me out.

When I reached the hallway, everyone was already there.

Section E.

Kerein.

Kegain.

Percy.

My family.

Everyone.

"Oh my God..." Tita gasped when she saw the baby.

Kerein immediately ran toward me and looked at her with wide eyes.

"Wowww! She looks like Kuya!"

Everyone gathered around us, smiling and trying to get a look at the newest member of our family.

But I smiled softly.

"First... I want to meet Keifer."

Kuya nodded.

He wheeled me toward Keifer's room.

As soon as I saw him lying there, my heart tightened.

We moved closer to him.

I gently brought our daughter near him.

Her tiny hand touched Keifer's hand.

I looked at her.

Then at Keifer.

And suddenly—

His fingers moved.

"His fingers are moving!" I whispered.

Everyone looked at him.

Slowly, Keifer's hand moved again.

"Jay..." he whispered.

"Keif..." I whispered back, tears filling my eyes.

His eyes slowly opened.

He looked around the room, confused.

Then our daughter suddenly started crying.

Keifer's attention immediately moved toward her.

Then his eyes shifted toward my stomach.

His eyes widened.

He tried to sit up.

"Easy, easy," the doctor said, gently helping him sit.

Keifer removed the mask covering his face and looked at me.

"Jay..."

His eyes moved toward the baby.

"Baby..." he whispered.

"Mr. Watson, you were in a coma for the last two months," the doctor explained.

Keifer froze.

His eyes slowly moved back toward our daughter.

His hands started shaking.

"You did this all alone?" he whispered.

I smiled through my tears.

"Later. First, hold your princess."

He nodded.

With his shaky hands, he carefully took our daughter into his arms.

And then...

A miracle happened.

Our daughter stopped crying.

She grabbed Keifer's finger.

Slowly, she opened her eyes.

And the first thing she saw was her father's face.

A tiny smile appeared on her face.

Everyone's heart melted.

"My princess..." Keifer whispered, tears rolling down his cheeks.

He gently kissed her tiny head.

"I am a father now..."

He laughed softly while crying.

"She's my daughter."

He looked at her again.

"Angelo... see? I'm a father now."

He kissed her head again.

Then he looked at me.

"Baby..."

I reached for his hand.

He held mine tightly.

"Please arrange our beds together," he told the nurse.

The nurse smiled and nodded.

---

After some time, everyone gathered around us again.

Keifer was sitting on the hospital bed, carefully holding our daughter.

Percy walked closer first.

"Now give her to me," he said.

Keifer immediately made a face.

"Why?"

"Because I haven't held her properly yet!"

Keifer sighed before carefully handing her to Percy.

Percy smiled the moment he took her into his arms.

"Hey, little princess."

He gently kissed her head.

"You're in your handsome uncle's hands now."

Keifer rolled his eyes.

"Don't teach her nonsense."

Everyone laughed.

Then Aries stepped forward.

"Now give her to me."

Percy looked at him.

"Why? You just want to show off."

Aries rolled his eyes and gently took the baby from Percy.

"Heyyy, easy! That's my princess!" Keifer protested.

Aries looked at him.

"I know she's your princess."

He looked down at the baby.

"But she's my princess too."

A rare smile appeared on Aries' face.

For a moment, I couldn't even recognize him.

Was this really the same grumpy Aries?

He gently kissed her tiny head and held her carefully against his chest.

Everyone smiled at the sight.

Then Yuri stepped forward.

"Now my turn."

Aries carefully handed the baby to Yuri.

Yuri smiled as soon as he held her.

"You're going to be so spoiled by me."

He kissed her little forehead and hugged her gently.

I couldn't help but smile.

Seeing all of them holding our daughter made my heart feel so full.

Finally, Yuri handed her back to me.

I smiled and pulled her close to my chest.

Keifer looked at us with the biggest smile.

For the first time in so long...

Everything felt right.

---

One Week Later

One week had passed.

Keifer was finally strong enough to go home.

And I couldn't have been happier.

When we finally reached home, I noticed something strange.

The house was unusually quiet.

I looked at Keifer.

He looked at me.

"Where is everyone?" I asked.

Before he could answer—

"SURPRISEEE!"

Everyone suddenly jumped out.

Section E.

Our families.

Kerein.

Kegain.

Everyone.

The entire house was beautifully decorated.

Balloons were everywhere, along with little decorations and pictures of us.

I covered my mouth in shock.

"Oh my God..."

Keifer looked around, completely surprised.

"You guys..."

Everyone started laughing.

"Welcome home!" Percy shouted.

"Finally!" Yuri added.

Kerein ran toward us.

"Kuya! Ate! And the baby!"

I laughed.

"Thank you, everyone."

Keifer smiled and nodded.

"Seriously... thank you."

They had even prepared food for us.

The whole house was filled with laughter.

We spent the entire evening celebrating our little family.

There were jokes, pictures, food, teasing, and of course...

Way too much attention on our baby girl.

By the end of the night, everyone finally started leaving.

"Take care of yourselves," Tita said.

"We'll come again tomorrow!" Aries said

"Especially to see the baby!" Percy added.

Keifer laughed.

"Yeah, yeah. Go home."

Everyone said their goodbyes and finally left.

The house became quiet again.

I looked at Keifer.

He looked at me.

We both smiled.

We slowly went upstairs to our room.

Our baby was sleeping peacefully in my arms.

I gently placed her on the bed between us.

Keifer immediately lay down beside her.

I lay on the other side.

For a few moments, neither of us said anything.

We simply looked at her.

Our little girl.

Our daughter.

Our miracle.

She was awake now, peacefully looking from me to Keifer.

Keifer smiled.

"Look at her..."

I smiled back.

"She's so tiny."

"She has your eyes."

"No, she looks like you."

"She's definitely my princess."

I laughed softly.

Our daughter suddenly moved her tiny hands.

Keifer placed his finger in her little hand.

She grabbed it.

He smiled so brightly.

I reached over and held her tiny hand too.

For the first time in months, everything felt peaceful.

No fear.

No hospital.

No tears.

Just the three of us.

Together.

I looked at Keifer.

He looked at me.

And without saying anything, we both smiled.

We had imagined this moment so many times.

But somehow...

The real thing was even more beautiful.

Keifer leaned closer and kissed my forehead.

Then he kissed our daughter's tiny head.

"Welcome home, princess."

I smiled and whispered,

"Our family is finally complete."

Keifer intertwined his fingers with mine.

And as our little girl peacefully lay between us, we both watched her with the biggest smiles on our faces.

Maybe this wasn't the ending we had imagined.

But it was our perfect beginning. ❤️
