Jay POV:
I woke up when I heard a tiny little crying voice.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked beside me. My little princess was crying.
Her tiny face was scrunched up and she was moving her little hands near her face.
I was about to pick her up when I saw Keifer turn in his sleep and wrap his arm around her.
She slowly stopped crying.
She turned her little head towards Keifer and made a tiny sound.
"Awww, daddy's princess," I whispered, smiling.
I leaned closer and kissed her little cheeks.
She moved her lips a little and then closed her eyes again.
We still hadn't decided on her name.
Keifer had already announced that he was going to throw a very huge party tomorrow evening, where he would reveal our baby girl's name.
And the party was literally tomorrow.
Yet we still hadn't decided what to name her.
I sighed.
We are so doomed.
I looked at the time.
8:00 AM.
"Okay, I really need to get ready."
I carefully got out of bed and went towards the bathroom.
When I came out, I saw Keifer was awake now and sitting on the bed with our baby girl in his arms.
He was looking down at her while gently rubbing her tiny back.
"Awww, daddy loves youu," he whispered.
She suddenly made a tiny little sound and moved her hands.
Keifer smiled.
"What's wrong, hmm?"
He gently adjusted her in his arms.
She started making small uncomfortable noises again.
I chuckled.
"I think she's hungry."
Keifer nodded.
"Yeah, probably."
He looked down at her and kissed her forehead.
"Come on, little one."
He carefully held her closer to himself.
I walked towards them and held out my arms.
"Come on, let her spend some time with her mumma too."
Keifer smiled and handed her to me.
"Okay, okay."
I carefully took her in my arms and adjusted her blanket.
She was still awake, but her eyes were slowly closing.
"Awww, my sleepy baby."
I kissed her forehead.
She yawned softly and moved her little fingers.
I smiled.
"Look at her."
Keifer came closer and looked at her.
"She's so tiny."
"She's only one week old."
"I know."
He gently touched her tiny hand.
Her fingers curled around his finger for a second.
Keifer smiled softly.
"She held my finger."
I laughed.
"That's just her reflex."
"I know."
He still looked happy about it.
When I reached downstairs, I saw Kegain sitting on the couch, drinking juice.
The moment he saw us, he put his glass down.
"Awww, good morning, baby!" Kegain said happily.
He quickly held his arms out.
"Can I hold her?"
I nodded.
"Sit properly first."
He immediately sat properly, and I carefully gave her to him.
"Did you miss your Tito?" Kegain asked, kissing the top of her head.
She was half asleep and didn't react much.
Kegain looked at her.
"She's sleeping again."
I laughed.
"That's what newborns do."
He nodded and carefully looked at her.
"She's really tiny."
"Yeah."
I then walked towards the kitchen to check whether breakfast was ready or not.
"Kegain, where is Kerein?" I asked.
"He's still sleeping."
I sighed.
"Of course he is."
I walked back towards the couch and picked up my baby.
"Okay, let's go wake your Tito Kerein."
When we entered Kerein's room, I saw him sleeping peacefully while hugging his pillow.
I walked towards him.
"Kereinnnn, wake uppp! Your niece is here!"
He didn't move.
I shook his shoulder gently.
"Hmm..." Kerein hummed in his sleep.
"Kereinnn, it's meeee. Wake uppp."
He slowly opened one eye and looked at me.
Then his eyes moved towards the baby.
"Wait... baby?"
I laughed.
He sat up properly.
"Can I hold her?"
"Yeah, but be careful."
I carefully handed her to him.
"Good morning, princess," Kerein whispered.
She moved her little face and made a tiny sound.
Kerein smiled.
"You're awake?"
She didn't answer, obviously, and just closed her eyes again.
I laughed.
"She doesn't care about you right now. She's sleepy."
Kerein chuckled.
"She's only one week old."
"Exactly."
He gently kissed her forehead.
"You made my morning better anyway."
I smiled at them.
"Okay, Kerein. Come fast. Breakfast is ready."
He nodded and carefully handed her back to me.
When I came downstairs again, I saw Keifer sitting on the couch, scrolling through his phone.
The moment he saw us, he immediately put his phone aside.
"My baby!"
He took our daughter from my arms.
Then he looked at me.
"Jayyy, babyyy, sit with me."
He pulled me down beside him.
Then he looked at our daughter.
"Look at your mama. She's glowing more after pregnancy."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
Keifer smiled and took my hand.
"Yes, love."
He kissed the back of my hand.
Our daughter suddenly moved her little legs and made a small crying sound.
Keifer immediately looked down at her.
"Hey..."
He gently rubbed her back.
"What's wrong?"
She continued crying softly.
I smiled.
"She's probably hungry again."
Keifer nodded.
"Yeah."
He carefully held her closer.
"Come on, little one."
He gently patted her back while I watched him.
Soon, she became quiet again.
Keifer looked at me.
"She's okay now."
I nodded.
"Yeah."
Soon, Kerein also came and we all sat at the table.
While we ate our breakfast, our little princess slept in Keifer's arms.
Every now and then, she would move her little hands or make a tiny sound.
And every time she did, Keifer would look down at her.
Later that afternoon...
I was sitting in the living room when I noticed Keifer sitting on the couch with our daughter in his arms.
He wasn't doing anything.
He was just holding her while she slept against his chest.
One of his hands was supporting her tiny head while the other was gently resting on her back.
I smiled.
"You've been holding her for so long."
Keifer looked at me.
"I know."
"You can put her down."
"I know."
He looked down at her sleeping face.
"But she's comfortable."
I smiled.
"Okay."
A few minutes later, Kaira suddenly started moving in his arms.
Her face scrunched up and she let out a small cry.
Keifer immediately adjusted her.
"Shh..."
He gently rubbed her back.
"Easy, baby."
She continued crying for a few seconds.
Keifer looked at me.
"Jay..."
I came closer.
"She's okay. Maybe she needs something."
I checked her diaper and then looked at Keifer.
"She's probably just uncomfortable."
He nodded.
He carefully held her against his shoulder and started gently patting her back.
"Come on..."
Her crying slowly became quieter.
Keifer kissed her little head.
"Daddy's here."
She finally settled down.
Keifer looked at her for a moment.
Then he smiled softly.
"I think I'm starting to understand her cries."
I laughed.
"Don't get too confident."
He chuckled.
"I'll learn."
I looked at them.
There was something about seeing Keifer like this that made my heart feel so full.
He was still learning everything.
How to hold her.
How to calm her.
How to understand when she was hungry or sleepy.
But he was trying.
And I knew he was going to be an amazing dad.
Night —
After dinner, everyone had gone to their rooms.
Our baby girl was sleeping peacefully in her little crib beside our bed.
Keifer was sitting on the bed, staring at her.
I walked out of the bathroom and looked at him.
"What?"
He didn't answer.
He just kept staring at her.
"Keifer?"
He finally looked at me.
"We still haven't decided her name."
I sighed.
"I know."
"The party is tomorrow."
"I know."
"And we're supposed to reveal her name."
"I KNOW."
He laughed.
"Okay, okay."
I sat beside him.
"Let's decide tonight."
He nodded.
"Only J or K names."
"Agreed."
I thought for a moment.
"What about Julia?"
He shook his head.
"Too common."
"Jasmine?"
"Pretty... but no."
"Jade?"
He tilted his head.
"Maybe."
I looked at him.
"What about Kaira?"
Keifer suddenly became quiet.
"Kaira..."
He repeated the name softly.
I smiled.
"You like it?"
He nodded slowly.
"I really like it."
I looked towards our sleeping daughter.
"Kaira..."
Keifer smiled.
"It suits her."
I nodded.
"But we need another name too."
Keifer thought for a moment.
"What about Serina?"
I looked at him.
"Serina?"
He nodded.
"Yeah."
He smiled softly.
"My mom's name."
I smiled.
"I know how much that name means to you."
He took my hand.
"And I want our daughter to carry it."
I looked at our baby girl again.
"Kaira Serina..."
Keifer finished,
"Watson Marino."
We both went quiet.
I smiled.
"That's it."
Keifer smiled back.
"That's our girl's name."
He stood up and walked towards the crib.
He carefully picked her up.
She moved slightly in his arms and made a tiny sleepy sound.
Keifer gently adjusted her against his chest.
He kissed her forehead.
"Goodnight, Kaira."
She moved her little hand against his shirt.
Keifer looked down at her and smiled softly.
I walked closer.
"Our little Kaira."
Keifer looked at me.
"Tomorrow, everyone is going to find out."
I nodded.
"But we don't tell anyone tonight."
He smiled.
"Of course not."
He looked down at our sleeping daughter.
"It's going to be a surprise."
I walked closer and rested my head on his shoulder.
Keifer held our daughter carefully between us.
For a moment, none of us said anything.
Our little family.
Our little princess.
And finally...
A name.
Kaira Serina Watson Marino.
Tomorrow, everyone would finally know her name.
