Chapter 30 - ARC OF THE DEMON KING'S DEATH — PART IV

Amidst the floodwaters, between the upturned trunks, Hræbeornoth rose.

The Ent's entire body was broken, but his regeneration, with roots in the submerged earth, rebuilt his form.

The tree unleashed screams that pushed back the waters. Droplets flowed against gravity, rising as Hræbeornoth's Aura expanded and transformed his body.

Branches burst through bark, the trunk twisted in many directions, distorted, and its verdant leaves scattered through the air, carried by winds emanating from the power of its howls echoing for miles.

Cwenburg did not know what to expect and controlled Godwyna with her mind, sending him far away.

The Serpentarium could do nothing but retreat.

Cwenburg, staff in hand and little Aura remaining, fell to her knees above the flood.

The Unicorn raised a shield of water, then another, and another, using the waters that ran above the green grass reflecting the morning, and then the flames.

When the meteors and asteroids began to fall, Cwenburg formulated her plan amid the Demon King's tempest, which even from a distance altered the surrounding geography with the explosions of its meteors.

Hræbeornoth completed his transformation at twice his height, with so many dry, black branches protruding from his body that he resembled a porcupine of flora.

— This is Floral Tower Mode.

— That's so cool! — Cwenburg shouted from within the water's protection, as the Ent moved toward her in a leap, he kicked with his roots and the barrier remained intact.

Then he used his branches, when extended they were deflected, and with his strikes they merely moved the waters, which were siphoned by Cwenburg's spell from the soaked ground to rebuild what was lost.

Hræbeornoth increased the speed of his blows, his Ent-body running in a circle around Cwenburg's overlapping water shields, with each strike the sound trembled the waters below, creating waves.

Hræbeornoth vanished in speed, striking from behind, left, right, all at absurd velocities. His body nothing but a blur.

Cwenburg seemed doomed.

The waters began to cease in their torrent, and the shield grew thinner and thinner, until one of the larger meteors descended, nearly striking one of the surrounding mountains.

This was what the Water Mage had been waiting for.

Cwenburg's staff, which until then had remained kneeling as she concentrated and conserved Aura, rose with her. And the Unicorn-Girl flew, carrying along the waters she could lift, but this time the bubble of shields enveloped Hræbeornoth, captured, flying beside Cwenburg as she crossed the sky with what remained of her water.

Hræbeornoth understood the Unicorn's plan.

— You're going to kill us both! Give up! You madwoman!

The objective, using the water from the ground to create a pillar of water that lifted Hræbeornoth and Cwenburg up before the meteor, was completed with perfection.

The pillar held Hræbeornoth in the collision path, and Cwenburg flew over the colossal rock, which as it tore through the air struck the mountain, exploding in fire and ash, magma and death, with the surrounding villages obliterated in the colossal impact.

The cloud rose to the skies. And gravel rained for miles, tearing through the air around Cwenburg's body, falling without the strength to keep her water staff active, or to control her own body with her horn pointed toward the approaching earth.

Godwyna appeared and caught her, accelerating away, dodging the rocks that streaked the air with fire and soot.

When the meteors ceased moving, the Demon King found itself amid the dust of the debris from its devastating attack.

Small asteroids still clustered together, plummeting against larger debris, raising more dust.

And the largest of all, like a moon around Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd, shone.

The One, trapped at the center, demonstrated its power by cracking the structure around it. The rocks pulled apart until they shattered against one another, and rose like continents in size, forming what were like four rocky wings around the planet, around the bloodied Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd.

And the Demon King cast once more:

— Meteors! — with the continental plates pulling apart, moving again against Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd imprisoned within what ground the rocks to pieces, expelling them in opposite directions, with even the smaller rocks around moving against The One.

Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd's body was obliterated to such an extent that the surrounding matter could no longer coalesce, existing as nothing but dust of what had once been the three asteroid rings.

And The One fell, pulled by the planet's gravity, plummeting through the clouds. He used his magic to point toward the Continent of Monsters, and from them he took life.

The absorption used the Aura of flora and fauna, and many lineages of creatures were extinguished in the terrible cities of the Continent of Monsters.

Bodies were pulverized, and trees withered, even in the rivers, fish lost their lives alongside the wilting of algae, and through the streets those who walked turned to bones and misshapen muscle, they collapsed as Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd's body recovered its life.

The magic was completed, altering The One's form, which assumed aspects even less humanoid, like a monster now without mouth or nostrils, resembling a mix of bone and pallid flesh, muscles covering its entire being.

It stopped just before touching the ground above a great city, Roca, the capital of the Continent of Monsters, in which half of its beings no longer lived, that is, until the Demon King descended from the stratosphere with a precise knee strike to Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd's head.

The ground opened into a crater, and the chasm split the earth for six thousand miles, crossing through the planet's core, where living fire marked the Demon King's footprints in the heart of existence.

Entire cities fell, with Level 20 monsters flying in every direction like a swarm, fleeing the waters that fell and formed a new crust around the fire that never extinguishes.

Even the Demon King, covered in burns, melting, found itself in difficulty, with constant collapses, and it amid the rocks and earth, amid the waters and fire, climbing upward as it scrambled, with wings broken and torn off, and its entire body covered in blood and filth.

However, a flying kick struck the Demon King's face, it was The One, even more brutalized than its enemy. The two flew within the colossal fissure, exchanging punches, kicks, the Demon King's blows were so powerful that they sent its opponent against the chasm wall, fire emerging from below, melting the earth, expelling them upward, yet the exchanged strikes did not cease, for the one sent against the walls, destroying more of the earth and great rocks, returned more ferocious, with insane roars and powerful blows that met blows equally as powerful, disappearing amid the thousands of kicks and punches colliding.
