Chapter 34 - ARC OF THE DEMON KING’S DEATH — PART VIII

At Wyrsæberht's mouth, the roots of Ealdyrm poured forth the antidote to the poisons of her enchantment, and the Nymph rose only to be struck by a colossal fist to the face, the Demon King's punch disintegrated her on the spot.

Ealdyrm leaped over Blith's corpse and enveloped it in her branches, crushing it into blood, hurling the liquid at the Demon King.

And Number Two immediately began expelling poison, if it worked against the old man, why wouldn't it work against a Legendary?

And perhaps it might have worked, perhaps not. The Demon King accelerated so swiftly that Ealdyrm realized she could not escape, screaming as the enormous fist hurled her from the sky to the ground.

The Demon King clasped both hands together and struck again as Ealdyrm fell, and just as she pierced through the earth and soil and death was inevitable, he did not wait for the end, the wounds bathing her in blood, another punch united earth and sky in a cloud of dust where the fragmented parts of the Floral vanished into the air.

But the Demon King's flesh no longer regenerated, and his Aura was now seen by Æthelflæd as a candle equal to her own, neither lesser nor greater.

He passed through the collapsed ceiling and walked as Æthelflæd ascended the stairway, weary from the steps.

The Demon King sat comfortably upon his throne of bones and saw the familiar face smiling at him. The Human stepped into the vast hall and ran toward him.

The Curse Marks left the bodies of the lolis, and Æthelflæd had a bad premonition, the Demon King's lips moved, but she could not hear what he said.

Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd moved so swiftly that its motion was not perceived by the Alchemist.

The flame of the Demon King's Aura was extinguished, and the perforated throne of bones rose behind the fallen body among skulls, with blood gushing across the walls, ceiling, and floor.

Æthelflæd passed by the enormous the One, which had only its left hand pointed at the open hole in the Demon King's chest.

She did not want to believe it.

The One passed by Æthelflæd and ignored her, until the Human, kneeling, in tears, embracing the Demon King, irritated Sceadu Gestréon Ungemynd, which turned back to her.

A body flew from the second floor, above the stairs, falling after rolling bloodied across the floor, before the main double doors of the Black Castle.

Leofwynn and Cwenburg, on opposite sides of the kingdom, felt the Demon King's presence vanish.

They flew and arrived simultaneously before the Demon King's Castle, with Godwyna carrying the Water Mage.

They touched the ground.

The first stairway.

The second.

The atrium.

The memories of the trio facing the Demon King.

Everything until they saw the smile, and the two lolis cried, thinking they had found Æthelflæd again.

The Serpentarium perceived it before the two who were running, and stopped in midair.

Leofwynn then saw the corpse on the ground, Æthelflæd was cut in half, with blood linking the two parts.

Cwenburg held her friend and, kneeling beside the corpse, continued trying to cast healing magics, which had no effect because the Unicorn Girl no longer had any Aura.

She searched for Edas, and there was nothing there, no other corpse, no other Aura.

Leofwynn lowered her head and wept over Æthelflæd, screaming so loudly that it stopped Cwenburg, bringing her back to reality, there was no way to save the Human.

The world of the two would never be the same again.
