Chapter 29 - Chapter Fifteen: Before the Decision

He stood at the edge of the balcony, staring at the city that never slept. The scattered lights beneath his feet looked like fallen stars, yet inside him was darker than any night he had ever known. The decision he had avoided for so long was now close… far too close.

He remembered everything that had happened since the beginning: promises, losses, and moments when he truly believed the road had ended. He hadn't been alone on this journey, but right now the weight of loneliness pressed heavily on his chest. He pulled his phone from his pocket, paused at a single name, then put it away without calling. Not yet.

Inside, the room was unusually quiet. Papers were scattered everywhere, each one carrying the mark of an unfinished thought. He sat down and began gathering them one by one, as if he were rearranging himself before rearranging the world around him. One truth was impossible to ignore: continuing like this was no longer an option.

A soft knock on the door broke the silence. He lifted his head, took a deep breath, and said,

"Come in."

The entrance itself wasn't surprising, but the words that followed were enough to change everything. The decision was no longer his alone, and time was no longer on his side. Now, he either faced what awaited him—or lost more than he was prepared to lose.

He stood up, and for the first time in a long while, fear no longer felt like an obstacle… but a drive. With that thought, an old chapter closed, and the shape of a new one began to appear.
