Betrayed by Heaven, Reborn as the Blade the Gods Tried to Erase
The God-Slayer's Requiem (GSR)
Chapter 11: The Academy Trial That Was Never Meant to Be Won
The summons arrived at dawn.
A crystal slate hovered above every dormitory bed, glowing with gold-and-white sigils.
DIVINE SANCTIONED TRIAL
Selected Candidates: Mandatory Participation
Failure Equals Expulsion
Deaths Will Be Considered "Acceptable Losses"
Klai read it once.
Then twice.
He smiled faintly.
So the gods have decided to look at me directly.
WHAT THE TRIAL REALLY WAS
The academy called it a Trial of Ascension.
In truth, it was a purge.
Every student selected shared one thing in common:
Unregistered mana anomalies
High growth potential
Or bloodlines not fully under divine control
Klai's name sat at the top.
THE BATTLEFIELD
They were transported through a massive teleportation gate into a sealed sub-realm—
The Relic Expanse of Khar'Zuun.
A dead land.
Floating ruins.
Cracked skies.
Ancient weapons half-buried in ash.
Divine eyes watched from everywhere.
THE RULES (UNSPOKEN)
Monsters would scale endlessly
Aid would not arrive
Only survivors would return
The instructors knew.
The Church approved.
The gods smiled.
THE HOLY KNIGHT
Among the participants stood a woman in white-and-gold armor.
Tall.
Ash-blonde hair tied back with a knight's ribbon.
Eyes sharp—but conflicted.
Aurelia Sanctis
Holy Knight of Celestara
Chosen of the Radiant Choir
She watched Klai carefully.
"You," she said, approaching. "You're calm."
"I don't plan on dying," Klai replied.
She frowned. "Arrogance gets people killed here."
"No," he said. "Faith does."
She stiffened.
THE SLAUGHTER BEGINS
The trial started without warning.
The ground split.
Creatures crawled out—void beasts, corrupted elementals, half-"divine" constructs abandoned by heaven.
Screams followed.
Students scattered.
Klai did not.
He moved toward the densest cluster.
TACTICS OVER TALENT
Klai analyzed patterns.
Spawn intervals.
Aggro ranges.
Terrain weaknesses.
He positioned weaker students behind ruins, directing them without shouting.
Aurelia watched in disbelief.
"He's… commanding," she muttered.
WHEN FAITH CRACKS
A divine construct descended—wings of light, blade burning with holy fire.
It struck at Klai.
Aurelia reacted instantly, intercepting.
"Get back!" she shouted. "This is a god-forged—"
Klai stepped past her.
And cut the construct's wing clean off.
The holy fire went out.
The construct screamed.
Aurelia froze.
"That shouldn't be possible…"
Klai didn't answer.
He finished it.
TRUTH IN BLOOD
Later—amid ruined stone and cooling corpses—
Aurelia confronted him.
"That blade technique," she said tightly. "It bypassed divine reinforcement."
"Yes."
"That means—"
"The gods can bleed," Klai finished calmly.
Her hands shook.
"Everything I've been taught—"
"Was designed to keep you obedient."
Silence fell between them.
Then—
"Help me," Aurelia said quietly. "If what you're doing is right… I need to see it."
Klai met her eyes.
"Then stop calling them perfect."
She nodded.
Once.
HEAVEN PANICS
In Celestara, alarms rang.
"The trial is failing."
"He's leading them."
"He's converting a holy knight."
Iglesias stood from his throne.
"Enough."
A divine edict formed.
Direct intervention authorized.
