Betrayed by Heaven, Reborn as the Blade the Gods Tried to Erase
The God-Slayer's Requiem (GSR)
Chapter 13: The Price of Touching the End
Klai did not wake up screaming.
That worried everyone.
AFTERMATH: THE BODY THAT SHOULD NOT LIVE
He lay in a white chamber deep beneath Viremont Grand Academy, suspended in a healing circle layered with more restrictions than protection. Runes designed to limit growth pulsed softly around him.
The instructors called it "stabilization."
Lysenne called it what it was.
"They're trying to cage him," she said coldly.
Aurelia stood at the foot of the bed, gauntleted hands clenched.
"They're afraid."
"They should be."
INSIDE KLAI
He drifted through darkness.
Not unconscious.
Falling.
The Null Expanse stretched endlessly around him—broken thrones, shattered halos, divine corpses drifting like ash.
Morvane's presence lingered nearby.
"You survived," the god murmured.
"Barely."
Klai looked at his own soul.
Cracks ran through it.
"Will it kill me?"
Morvane laughed—low and bitter.
"Eventually. Unless you grow faster than the damage."
Klai nodded.
"Then teach me."
THE COST REVEALED
[Godfall System – Status Update]
Soul Integrity: 61%
Divine Resistance: Unstable
Mortal Limits: Partially Removed
Warning: Repeated god-tier interaction will result in existential erosion
No sugarcoating.
No mercy.
Klai accepted it.
THE ACADEMY MOVES
Aboveground, chaos brewed.
The Divine Trial's outcome shattered precedent.
Survivors spoke of:
A god bleeding
A student deflecting judgment
Holy constructs falling
The Church demanded explanations.
Noble houses demanded executions.
The academy compromised.
THE DECREE
Klai Valerius would not be expelled.
Instead—
He would be transferred.
To a place no student was meant to survive.
THE BLACK VAULT PROGRAM
Lysenne read the document aloud.
"Restricted missions. Classified deployments. No protection. No witnesses."
Aurelia's voice trembled. "That's a death sentence."
Klai finally opened his eyes.
"Good," he said calmly. "I prefer honest enemies."
THE DEMON REALM WATCHES
Far below the mortal plane, in Noctyrr Abyss, a throne of obsidian cracked.
A woman lounged upon it—horns curved like crowns, crimson eyes glowing with amusement.
Veylra, Demon Queen of Chains
She smiled.
"A mortal who made heaven flinch?"
Chains rattled as she leaned forward.
"Bring him to me."
THE FIRST BLACK VAULT MISSION
Objective:
Suppress a slaver stronghold operating beneath the city of Duskmire
Unofficial translation:
Erase everyone involved.
Klai armed himself in silence.
Seraphina stood nearby, hands shaking.
"I can't fight," she whispered. "But I can keep you alive."
Klai placed his hand over hers.
"That's more dangerous than a sword."
She blushed—and nodded.
THE PROMISE
Before leaving, Aurelia stopped him.
"If this path leads you to hell… I'll follow."
Lysenne smirked. "I was born there."
Klai looked at them both.
Then forward.
"I'm not walking to hell," he said.
"I'm conquering it."
