Chapter 81: Dead end
When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I saw was nothing but a gray, overcast sky.
I was lying in the middle of a dense forest, my back aching from the uneven ground littered with gravel. The tree canopies interwove above, nearly blocking out all the light. There were no voices, no sounds of machinery, only the wind threading through dry branches and the thick, musty smell of rotting leaves.
I had no idea how I ended up here.
My last memory was only the darkness of the rift swallowing my body, and after that, everything went completely blank. I quickly checked myself over. No broken bones, no severe bleeding, and the Guiding energy I had left was enough to maintain normal function.
At least I wasn't dead.
