Chapter 79: The Crack
I wandered on an aimless road, to be more precise, I had no idea where I was.
After stepping out of The Wanderers' tunnel, Han Sahee had handed me a compass, a few packs of dry rations, and two bottles of water. She had also carefully marked a direction on the old map, saying that if I just kept going that way, sooner or later I would reach the nearest safe zone.
But a map is just a map.
The roads outside the safe zone had long stopped resembling what was drawn on paper. Some sections were buried under rocks and dirt, some were overgrown with black crystals, and others looked perfectly normal at first glance, but just one wrong step and the ground would collapse into a bottomless pit.
I could only determine my direction using the compass.
The compass needle trembled, pointing north, occasionally veering off in a baffling way, as if even directions were being thrown into disarray by the energy in the air.
