They reached the wrecked hospital.
It's evening time.
The building stood lifeless—walls cracked, windows shattered, silence rotting inside it.
No lights. No guards. memories buried safely.
Sam and Merry stepped in cautiously.
Inside, Mask Man was already there.
He sat on a broken bench, relaxed, one coffee in his hand—two more resting on a dusty table beside him.
Both Sam and Merry stopped.
Doubt crawled through their minds.
"Hello," Mask Man greeted calmly.
"Sit. Have some coffee."
They exchanged a glance, then sat.
The meeting began.
Sam took a sip.
Merry leaned back, eyes sharp.
"So… what's the matter, young man?"
Mask Man spoke evenly.
"I'm trying to solve a closed case. Alone."
He paused.
"For that, I need help from both of you."
Merry's gaze hardened.
"And my role?"
"I need a medicine," Mask Man said.
"And a false intoxication report."
Merry stiffened.
"Oh, really?" she said coldly.
"Yes," he replied.
"And you'll be paid well."
Suspicion flashed across her face.
"Name," she demanded.
"Who is this report for?"
Mask Man fell silent.
Seconds passed.
Then—
"Nora," he said quietly.
"Nora Hemsworth."
Sam froze.
The coffee stopped halfway to his lips.
Merry moved instantly.
She drew her gun and aimed it straight at Mask Man's head.
"I knew it," she snarled.
"This was a trap. Who the hell are you?"
Mask Man raised one hand calmly.
"Easy. I don't hit women."
Sam exploded.
"Then fight me, you bastard!"
He drew his gun and fired.
Mask Man dodged the first shot.
The second—
He grabbed Merry and pulled her in front of him.
BANG.
The bullet tore into Merry's leg.
She screamed—but fired back instantly.
From that distance, the shot struck Mask Man in the abdomen.
He groaned, staggering—but didn't fall.
In one swift move, he disarmed Merry.
Suddenly—
Sam collapsed to the floor without anyone doing anything.
Merry froze, shocked.
Before she could react—
Mask Man struck her head with the gun.
She went down.
Silence swallowed the hospital again.
Both Sam and Merry lay unconscious on the cold floor.
Blood. Coffee. Broken promises.
What just happened?
Why did allies turn on each other?
Why Nora?
For now—
Only silence knew the answers.
